I think the point is playing DSD native files and the noticeable volume drop.
I remember this on my Ferrum-Holo desktop gear with Susvara bringing the 8 Watt amp to its upper limit when wanting to apply extra Equing with additional digital headroom decreasing volume further to avoid clipping.
Wondering how some D16 will perform here, guess it's playing native DSD without volume drop off
No drop in volume with the D16 that I have heard.

Don't think it'll make much difference but tried through android /UAPP?

The volume depends from the media, dsd files seem the most quiet. It’s not too bad to be honest in gain IV and max volume, but the Diana MR certainly would benefit from a few DBs more, not so sure about my ears :)

And there’s no audible difference with UAPP. Btw, is it possible to activate the Ultimate mode in this app?

If you're talking about DAC Ultimate Mode, it's activated through Android audio settings, not on the app.

Did anyone notice that the DAC Ultimate mode seems quieter than when it’s off?

To my ears, with Mango or Android, when in Ultimate mode, the volume immediately becomes a tad lower vs when it’s set to off.

I noticed this too. I don't know if it happens on all firmware versions as I bought it used with the latest already installed.

It is the case. A slight, but noticeable difference in volume. Ultimate sounds more refined but a bit less intense.

Coax out, can only get it working if I use Android.

What am I missing for using it through Mango OS?

Precisely, I couldn’t have said it better!

I would hope iBasso could set Ultimate to sound refined without losing intensity/volume, hence a no compromises solution.

@Paul - iBasso, any thoughts on this, is this perceived aspect by design?

Valentium, can find them on Etsy. Think he's just waiting on more meterial to arrive for the camo ones.

@gLer has a spare black leather one for his 300max (or did) which also fits 320 I think?

How does one reduce the preamp gain when using parametric EQ in the android mango player? MangoOS drops the preamp gain automatically with the graphic EQ switched on.
