Hi George, did you have a chance to listen to the Lotoo Mjolnir while there? If so, any comparative impressions with the 320Max (with the caveat that the Mjolnir is still in pre-production version)?
Hii, yes, I did listen to it. From what I can understand, Mjolnir may still suffer some changes, so all notes may not be quite that relevant. There are just 2 pieces in existance so far, both were present at High-End Munich.
Given the noise at the show, I wouldn't trust my ears to accurately describe the sound, but what I did hear was impressive dynamics, good weight for each musical note and very low disotrtion. I did not have anything on me that was hard enough to drive to push either to the max limit, the hardest to drive headphone on the table there was DCA Stealth, and both DX320 MAX TI and Mjolnir are fully able to drive it to the max without struggle.
The design is very different, DX320 MAX TI is almost a traditional DAP, Mjolnir is more like... a full sized DAC/AMP with a display. Much heavier. Comes with its own bag case thingy, DX320 MAX TI can be pocketed.
Can the max be plugged in to charging while burning in? I have been charging to 90-100%, then running it on battery for burn in.
And I'm getting 8-9 hrs. play time with flac (about 20% hi res, the rest is std res) on an SD card, no wifi, no BT, on android before the digital battery gets down to 20%. Is that about right?
That sounds about right.
I am playing mainly Flac and Hi Res files, volume half to 3/4, Gain IV, Max DAC mode, and I get around 8 - 9 hours right now. I think for me it will still take a few more cycles before the battery life stabilizes.
Yes. I only run the battery down once to form it but done over and over only shortens the life of the battery since it has X amount of cycles. Better to use standard resolution, normal listen levels and use the charger.
Many sites say a Li poly battery is good for around 500 full cycles and 3 to 5 years. I have some that are over 10 years old and still hold a good charger even after not being charged for 2 years. It is really variable.
Friendo, with iBasso, no need to worry about battery health and lifespan.
DX320 MAX TI is a device that costs 3500 USD, a battery cost 100 USD, DX320 MAX TI has screws on the back, and the battery takes less than 3 minutes to replace
I will try to take some dissassembly photos to make a walktrhough of the process.
