I have discovered something really amazing, i was using high gain prior this new fw update and dac filter 1. But With new fw everything changed, too sharp too zingy….

So I was playing and playing with features, new settings! Medium gain, D1 and Low dsd and dsd compensation on!

Boyyy its crazy addictive now, sound is balanced, no more sharp edgy zings. And now with insane holographic soundstage 🤩🥰😍 cause of new fw.

Seriously what an addictive joy and dap it is this new dx320.

This new settings where adjusted in android listening to Apple Music lossless 🙂🙃
It also works like a charm with mango android 🥰
I told u all that the sound from new firmware is better. You just need a proper amp or the stock amp burned in.
With the amp 13 it sounds out of this world!

Only used the Monarch MKII's 9n the AMP13. Like I said, I wasn't going to make a decision tonight and I'm going to let it play overnight as my monarchs need break in also. I will try my Meze ADVAR's. I just put the AMP11 back in so going to swap them out before going to sleep so it can play overnight and then see how it sounds in the morning. It's just very noticable. No wifi, no crackling, wifi on, crackling, at least so far and my OCD like behaviour can't tolerate it. Once I notice an imperfection, I can't unnotice it like a dead pixel on a TV. If that goes away completely then that's a different story.I can easily live with the slight background noise and it's not like that buzzing sound lasts long. There were also some tracks were I turned the volume up all the way and it was still not super loud but this was random and some music I couldn't turn it all the way up but I could never come close to turning it all the way up with the stock amp with PO on the 4.4mm Jack (which I know is by design and how the tube amp works). Honestly the one thing I can't live with is the random crackling noise when wifi is on.
Ok, so I decided to do some experimentation to try and help you out on this. I put in my really low impedance and all BA set (Audiosense T800 @9 Ohms). I have tested on both ports for these results and both OSes also. Also keep in mind I am using the DX300 so YMMV a bit with the DX320. Almost blew my ears out though, because anything above 35 is actually really loud on these... :)

In Mango OS the only noise I ever get is the 2 second hum when switching ports, otherwise the background is absolutely black. This was done with low, medium and high gain in both ports.

On to android, in Mango android, it is much the same as with Mango OS except the hum lasts for about 5 seconds for me.

As for streaming, this is where I DO get some noise. I am using Amazon HD. When first turning on WiFi, I DO get some pretty audible pops and cracks for about 5 seconds then it goes away until I turn off WiFi and turn it back on. I also get this same sound when opening the app. When pressing play I notice a much less audible popping in all three gain modes. Pressing pause it lasts for about 5 seconds then goes away. One thing of note is that the popping heard during playback isn't audible all the time, as it comes and goes. We'll have to see if this changes with burn-in. If listening to a longer song it seems as though those pops go away altogether and there is no audible noise (to my ears), that is until switching to the next song, and then the popping comes back (off/on) until it goes away. This is what makes me think that these really need to settle before making judgement calls on this card. I could be wrong though.

Has @ Paul - iBasso made any comment on this as of yet?

Edit: Actually after listening for a bit, the noise seems to be happening only when the song is buffering (WiFi is accessing the internet). After that, I hear black. So, if the song takes a long time to buffer, you might hear it longer.

😅😅😅
Didn’t I been pushing the idea of burn in 🧐 lol

Indeed dx320 is a work horse! It has very amazing sound qualities, can’t wait to have my amp13 rocking 😁

Man you can't even imagine what it's gonna bring to the house! It's a masterpiece! The staging, reverberation! I'm honestly overwhelmed. It's a different world.

Perhaps, and this is just an assumption, the amp13 is more sensitive as to the input it receives from the digital circuit/battery. So any activity done with the digital, causing potential differences in immediate power consumption for data processing would affect in some way the provided voltage/current to the amp module, even if minimal, that may be reflected in the input signal for sound that goes the amp. Mostly some random guessing here lol, just trying to find a reason why something done on the digital circuit is affecting the analog one in that way.

I HAVE noticed that the Amp13 card uses more battery over time than does the digital battery. ATM I am actually about 10% less on analog than digital (which is usually the other way around on the other amp cards).
That’s kind of neat to know.

That is certainly a plausible explanation, though not sure if true or not to be honest. Heck, it could be that crappy data ribbon cable connected to the tube itself from the PCB board picking up sound. There are just so many things that it COULD be. Though I do like your explanation, it makes perfect sense.

I do temperature controls for a living, and a LON or Bacnet trunk can certainly pick up unexplained noise from just about anything (which effects the speed and communication of all the controllers on the trunk). I have seen overhead light ballasts to cause such interference (noise) that communications are almost dead, they are so slow.

Even Head-Fi noticed my Elysian X ... 😅

I can’t stand ribbon cables. Never have liked them in the 20+ years of dealing with them in the IT industry.

They break by just looking at them. Don't like them either. I don't believe anyone likes them.

Update on the noise experiment with Amp13 card:

I have been streaming Amazon HD nonstop since I last posted about it, and while the pops are still there for a time during each song, the volume of such pops is becoming less and less over time. I am starting to think that indeed burning the amp in will fix the issue (for me anyhow).

Getting an itchy trigger finger, if anyone is selling their DX320 in the US, send me a message. Seen them go at $1.2k to $1.35k here at headfi. Missed the opportunity.
