Do you think that would sound better than your upgraded amp8?

Lol, why so quick ? The module isn’t even released. But I can tell you one thing for sure is that “tubes” will sound different than “SS”.

Amp8 is a SS, and has so much capability, and can perform much better when upgraded. So, they are both very different.

For everyone that has flashed Lurker's add-on and installed the Magisk manager, don't update the Magisk version to 1.8 by the third option the recommended direct installation as it will make DX200 keep booting into recovery mode. The way to solve is flashing the add-on again. Factory reset won't work.

Thanks a lot. And may I ask you for a closer photo of how you soldered two capacitors together(stage 1)?

1uF MLCC is out of stock in Mouser shop. Can I replace it with another capacitor? Or it is better to not put there anythnig else instead of this capacitor,
Test the capacitance of the MLCC yourself to find the most appropriate capacitor you need. I personally dislike the effect of MLCC on sound signature. So after soldered the MLCC, I removed it with no doubt.

You can replace with either TDK 1uF (blue) or 0.47uF Vishay. I did solder first time the Vishay but there was still sounding edgy then I replace the blue TDK and love its sound. :smile_phones:

Makes senses, since Nutube consumes a hell lot of power :D. Damn it! That is so unfair LoL. I was so excited and ready to jump off a bridge, luckily this 3.5mm and Ibasso saved me ...LoL

3.5mm only since you can only fit one nutube module, I assume. The same reason N8 nutube output is 3.5mm SE only.

The harshness only exists for a short period of time. The true fidelity of treble needs time to get evolved.
My AMP8 was only modified with a Nichicon 470uF/16V cap and at the beginning the treble was really edgy and sharp.
But after soldering and removing the MLCC, and burning it in for 20 hours approximately, the sharpness of treble became more acceptable and less aggressive.
For the time being, it has been burnt in for more than 50 hours, the sound is flawless with energetic bass and decent treble, along with tender vocal.

And it seems we get our wish with the AMP9 that’s gonna debut at the e-earphone festival this weekend :-

Our wish has come true. I wonder when this will be available to purchase? This is a freaking game changer!!!!!! Now no one needs anything else in the DAP world. I wonder if they will release an AMP module with more traditional valves like the 6111. Mullards would sound absolutely incredible paired with the DX200 DAC section!!!

If Ibasso could release a “Carriable amplifier”, bigger size with it own battery and charger, then it can accommodate whatever design, tubes that you desire. Then you can detach Dx200Ti and slap in amp modules and use on the go portably :D

I might have different ears and listened more than 20 hours without MLCC caps then add 0.47uF Kemet but I wasn’t still not satisfied with the harshness. However, the end solution would be the 1uF blue TDK MLCC.

AMP9?! Oh man. I now need a 4.4mm female to 3.5mm male adapter. Any one know a high quality pre-built one? Otherwise, I might just ask Norne to make one.
