So I bought a Dragonfly Black to pair with these and go in between these and my laptop/phone.

Blissful...

I use the 2000J IEM's with Sony ZX100 DAP and usually hear a slight hiss. The 2000J have ther lowest impedance of any headphones I've ever used with the ZX100 (from my understanding has an output impedance of 2 ohm). Most other headphones I have used (typically >/= 32 ohm) with the ZX100 I don't hear this hiss. I understand the 1/8 rule concerning the source. So I'm wondering if the ZX100 might have too high of output impedance for the 2000J? Would the 2000J pair better with a device with lower output impedance like the FiiO X5II? Would I get a more silent background pairing the 2000J with the X5II? Thanks for any input on this.

It's a problem of noise floor, not impedance.  Impedance doesn't cause hiss, it causes problems with dampening factor and control over the driver.

Sony ZX-series devices usually have terrible (worse than computer onboard sound) SNRs, which is UNACCEPTABLE for the price they're charging.

Hi guys, I'm new here. It is incredible the help you give in this great forum.

I have a FiiO EX1 (which collaborates with dunu), amp FiiO E17k and my source is FiiO X1

worth the added expense on EX1? they are very good, everything is heard very clear.

and my other question is whether they would make a good team with x1 & e17k

Thanks

i have the fiio ex1 and have extensively auditioned the dn2000j. 2000j is superior to ex1 in all departments. Period. But i prefer ex1 for the less extension of highs. Fiio x1 isnt a good source to start off with.

FiiO X1 is a perfectly good source - I use mine all the time.

What is substandard about it? How much time have you spent with it? Please point out it's flaws (seeing as how you are making statements like that).
