No, for real, the feeling of space (i just decided to be this my new term for "soundstage", since i find this sometimes a bit misleading

) is much better with the DT880. The HD595 sounds compressed in comparison.

*lol* Thanks for the... info?

Garfing Sharks, if you're just used to the HD580, then the HD595 is a sidestep. IMO, they offer similar tonalities, except the HD595 is brighter and slightly less soundstage. So it's a less lush/ more analytical HD580. Its bass and soundstage open up more with a tube amp. I haven't heard the DT880 to comment specifically on it, but all the other Beyers I've listened to have had noticable recessions in the mids (but the 880 is supposed to be the most un-Beyer of the Beyers though). I think the HD650 is pretty spot on for a large soundstage. Its main difference between the HD580 is more bass and smoother mids. They're not bass monsters as Senn critics say they are (IMO). They seem to have just the right amount of controlled bass for a large soundstage. When the HD650 is properly amped and sourced, I really like its resolution (it's still the classic Sennheiser sound, but it's really smooth).

I'll let others say what the DT880 is good at: I've just heard that they're brighter then the HD650

Dang thread hijackers

Well if csommers is used to the HD580 as well, the same rules apply
biggrin.gif
So csommers and/or Garfing Sharks, the HD595 is a more upfront HD580

Hhaha I have the 595 currently an was curious as to what the dt880 was compared to it. I think I got a fair amount of info regarding that and from what I've seen I think I will purchase some dt880s from the Buy/Sell to try them out. Thanks for the input guys

$200 new with $15-30 shipping.... you might as well buy it from a reputable shop for $250.
