I have the 880's and my heed should be coming in this weekend. is there synergy in this setup?

only you can decide whether there is "synergy" but I personally don't like the sound of my DT880s with the canamp

My Beyer DT 880's sound better with my OBH-11 SE, than with the Heed.

There are two directions you could go in, the way I see it:
(1) Keep the DT880, get a tube amp instead.
or
(2) Throw out the DT880, and get an Audio-Technica, Grado, or Sennheiser for something completely different, because the DT880 and K701 have a lot of similarities and you might not find them very different.

people have said HD650, sounds good with my HD580s
