**DT880 600 and Asus STX**

I had DT990 600ohm and no matter which amp, (Burson HA160DS/RSA SR71b) it was always miserable...

You have two choices here (from my experience)
1. Get rid of DT880 600ohm,
2. Upgrade to balanced cable with balanced amp.

I ended up selling mind cause upgrading balance cable is bit $$$ for me.

Is the stx enough to drive this card properly?

Technically, in terms of maximum power with low distortion, yes. It is comparable to the E9 and the O2. Although you may need to increase the gain from the default (lowest) setting to actually get the full power and make it loud enough.
I do not think that upgrading cables would make much difference.

The DT880 and DT990 sound signature could not be further apart. DT880 sounds just fine out of most amps I've tried it with. IDK about balanced version, never heard it.

thanks...

I don't about the math but I've heard my dt880 on an STX and it certainly sounded good and certainly loud enough.
