I'd love to have both again to renew my impressions - but sadly sold the 250s quyite a while ago now.  I knew I should have taken more notes when I compared the two 

.  Apart from the differences I've already mentioned - they were far more similar than different.  IMO the 880 family loves tubes though (or more correctly - I love a tube set-up with my DT880s).  I had a Porta-tube amp at one stage - and it was sensational with the 250ohm DT880s.
 
Over my solid stage (NFB-12) the LD presents a touch more bass impact and definitely brings the mids forward - this is with my 600 ohm.

Agree'd although my dt 880 pro had an amazing Lower Body with my Mstage, much better than on my Millet Hybrid tube, but then again I've  to use a quality tube with the Dt 880 Pro 250. Still I'm going with the 600 Ohm when I purchase it next, I'll proably use mah Tax Money to buy the 600 ohm and a better tube over my current budget Hybrid.
 
Are there any tubes powerful enough to power a Dt 880 600 ohm, and the super low impendace w1000x [as the w1000x is always used with the lowest gain on my amps] does something like the LD MkIV have a gain setting?

LD MKIV has 4 gain settings - 3X, 4X, 5X, 10X.
 
I'm pretty sure mine is set at 5X (I'll have to check later) and has no issues at all driving the 600ohm Beyers.  Not sure about the W1000X as I've never had the pleasure of trying it.

I checked the LD MK IV SE thread, and yes I was told about the gain settings, in addition a Koss Pro DJ was audioned on them an reported to be free of noise on the lowest gain setting! Which is nice to know <3

Thanks for all of your inputs, I think for the $90 difference I'll stick to the 250 pro.

I hope they sound good with the Aune T1.  I guess my next adventure will involve cleaning the pins from the tubes I ordered, very oxidized.  
 
Tried the rubber eraser, I doubted it would work from the start lol.  Will experiment with alcohol and wire brush later in the day.
 
So, Tuesday = Aune T1, Wednesday = Nokia 808 replacement, Thursday = DT880 Pro, Friday = Senn Amperior.  Lots of goodies to play with!

Sorry for digging up old thread but its Interesting cuz I've been looking for a DT 880 Pro (mainly because its cheaper) but couldn't find it second hand, All I see coming up on my local listings are DT 880 Premium 250ohm and 600ohms. 
 
I can get the Pro for about 290 including tax 
 
Also found a premium 600ohm for 220
 
any thoughts on which one to get? These will be my first pair of high ohm headphones and just scared 600ohm might not be able to be driven well enough. Been using AKG 240 MKII and Sennz HD280Pro (Sennz for mixing)

Until I got my Aune T1 replacement (tube dac and ss amp), I felt that the low and highs were lacking on the DT 880 Pro. 
(Was using Musiland 02 DAC)
 
Probably be better off getting the premium 600 and waiting for an amp deal with the difference you saved

Hi guys, I have a quick question. Does all 600 ohm version of DT880 have name plates at the sides? I saw a listing for a DT880, the box stating  "DT880 Pro / 600 ohm" but the headphone itself looks like a 250 ohm (without name plates). Is this suspicious?

The Premium Edition models have the DT 880 name plates on the ear cups, while the Pro models just have 'DT 880' screen printed on the cups.
 
I think there is (or was) a Pro 600 ohm version available, so it is probably legit.
 
I think the Pro 600 Ohm version should also have '600 Ohm' marked on the plastic part of 3.5 mm plug (the premium version definitely does - see picture below) so you could ask the seller to take a picture of this and send it to you.

EDIT:  Pro does not come in 600 Ohms.  --It appears they do sell a 600Ohms version in select markets.  My mistake

I'm pretty sure Beyerdynamic HAVE sold a pro 600 ohm version in some parts of the world.
