I am looking for a pair of on ear headphones to buy for my sister as a christmas present. she will mostly be using them with her ipod. I am looking for a decent all rounder to introduce her to nicer sounding audio. Isolation is also pretty important!

I have found the Denon AH-D501 at a good price at amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Denon-AH-D501-Closed-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B001D6FAGY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1292206725&sr=8-1

and also the Beyerdynamic DT 235 at iheadphone seem to be a good deal http://www.iheadphones.co.uk/beyerdynamic-dt235-black.html

They both get a quite positive reviews but is it worth the extra money for the beyers? or does anyone have other suggestions...

Keep in mind that they must have good isolation, be reasonably portable, around the £30 mark

Thanks for any help!

dunno if u ordered already but I can tell u that the beyers sound amazing.  I have limited experience and can only really compare them w/ my sennheiser 238, beyer's actually sound kinda nicer (despite msrp of almost half hd238 price), seem to be more accurate, less bass tho.

Isolation isn't good tho, it might help block things like people talking or something, but I was knocking on my wood table with them on and off (no music playing) and there was VERY LITTLE difference (is that even a proper measure for isolation?)

sry if my descriptions sound stupid, im new at this

I have the DT231 (said to be identical to the 235 soundwise), they're a bargain; very good sound for the price.
