Drop + Ultrasone Signature X Headphones Discussion

Just received these. First impressions: not dark at all, just like @squeakez mentioned. I have A-B'ed them a little with the Ultrasone Pro 900, without any burn-in I'd say the bass 'slam' for lack of a better term is about 95% of the 900s. I'd imagine with some burn-in these will surpass the 900s. I prefer the highs of the 900s, but the mids on the X are a 1000 times better. Overall, when putting on the 900s after the X's, it feels like something is missing.
Details seem similar, maybe a bit better on the X's. Soundstage is much better/more spacious on the X's.

All in all I'm very happy with these, they seem in most ways to be an improvement over the 900s, which to be honest I did not expect at all. Hopefully the bass slam will improve with some burn-in, if not then the Pro900s will remain the bass-kings of Ultrasone.

Btw, I did all my listening with the included thick pads.
Glad you like them! I think they are very underrated on this site. They feel like a hidden gem to me. I have found that all Ultrasones benefit from burn in. I think Ultrasone even recommends 200 hours. I think they just bring EDM to life.

By the way, one thing of note: the quality of the plastic hinges is really like something you would expect on a no-brand $10 headphone.

But otoh, they are super comfy with the thick pads. And not experiencing fatigue after longer listening like with the Pro900s.

Yes - worst build quality I've ever experienced on a headphone, hands down, especially for the cost. That's why I purchased a back-up pair. I treat them very gently when I am putting them on and off. I do think they are very comfortable and light weight.

Great to hear that! Over time, they have become my default DJ headphones due to mechanical issues with my HD-25 & AKG-371 (both pad moded).

Starting to appreciate them more and more everyday. I do quite like the Sennheiser cans as a staple. I’m undecided about swapping the AKG for the same or the ATH-50x.
