For me its worth the tradeoff of the upper mids sounding too relaxed. I prefer them a little forward. Blue filter deadened the upper mids a little too much for me.
Hmm, I feel too that the most damp filters have recessed vocals. I'll try the less damp filter out to see if it's better/more worth it.

I am in the same situation. While middle dampening filters are a little bit shouty with some music, the most dampening filters are lack of upper treble. But that's when i listen to prog metal and intense music. With the middle filters, fdx1 sounds so so great with classical and acoustic music. Rolling tips helped a lot, at last, i like spiral dot, azla sedna long and acoustune aet7 on these.

Hey guys, I took my FD-X1s with me when I went out, keeping them in my jeans’ pockets.

When I took them out at one point, they lost sound in the left side and were making a crackling sound when I would insert them.

I had lost all hope but I tried using them again after a few hours and the sound came back.

Now it has not happened again since, but should I be concerned or worried about them losing sound again? I got them only 4-5 months ago.

:frowning2:

Edit: BTW, it was not an issue with the wire, it was the earpiece itself, maybe its drivers because I did try switching the connections around and it was only the left one doing that.

Sounds like sweat may have got to them, or an mmcx plug was loose. I've had similar thing happen. I wouldn't store them without a case, especially in a pocket. They seem pretty well made but it's risky to keep any IEM in a pocket.
Well, I did try changing the plugs around and it was still only the left one doing that.

Hmm, I’ll try to keep them in a case next time I take them out then.

Do you think the problem will come back though?

Sweat evaporates and temperature differences can cause it to recondense, I wouldn't rule it out just because of a screen. If it's not sweat or a loose connector that caused it, maybe it was knocked around enough in your pocket to loosen something inside but that seems pretty unlikely.

Hmm, okay. My jeans pockets were really tight though, so that's probably not the problem. Could be that I caused a wire to short-circuit because of how tight my pockets were by the wires becoming bent, and that in-turn caused the drivers to fail (sounds stupid though)? Because I kept them in my pockets again after that and they were fixed later... So weird.

Did you detach/reattach the cable and they still had the problem? If they were compressed in a pocket I could definitely see that causing issues with the mmcx connectors. I've had to reseat one after I sat on an IEM and it caused the plug to pop out a tiny bit but not fully detach so it wasn't totally obvious what had happened. Another possibility is that they partially detached enough for something like pocket lint to get in there. If the problem returns the first thing I would try is swapping to another cable, if that doesn't work I would try letting them sit in a dry place or in a container with a dessicant for a day or so.

Yes, I did detach/reattach the cable and swapped them around too, but it didn't work.

Yeah, they were very compressed in my pocket so I guess it damaged the wires? Did it?

Potentially, ya the cable may have suffered damage, or the mmcx inputs on the IEM. It seems less likely to me though because they are working now. The reason I mentioned sweat first is because they started working again, which would suggest something like moisture that has evaporated.

A suggestion for storing your IEMs is to get some Pelican 1010 or 1020 cases, and some desiccant packs. Storing your IEMs this way will make sure any moisture will be eliminated. Obviously not an in-pocket solution, but for storing at home or in a backpack it is a handy solution.

How do you think wires getting damaged in-turn damaged the drivers of the IEM resulting in the sound going away? And what caused the crackling sound upon insertion which is no longer there? Last question, I promise. :D

But a moisture problem is a very rare occurrence though is it not? Are such cases actually recommended if you're going to keep expensive IEMs? I was thinking I'd store my Andromedas in a drawer or anywhere like that when I do get them.

I don't think the drivers were damaged, a poorly connected cable interfering with the signal integrity may have caused it to produce a distorted output. Take a look at how tiny and delicate mmcx is and imagine the forces applied while in a tight pocket.

Regarding moisture, it's definitely a potential problem with IEMs. Some are more prone to it based off airflow and how they are designed, and your local climate is major factor. If you live in a humid environment or are prone to sweating it's not a bad idea to store IEMs with a dessicant.
