Just saw a post from Drop about this on Facebook. I wonder what the difference is between this and the new Aeon Flow Open 2 aside from no collapsable headband and dark earcups instead of red?
One major difference is that the Aeon Flow (and I'm assuming the Aeon X as well) has the magnets in front of the planar driver, whereas the Aeon 2 has the magnets behind the driver.
Dan and Jude talk about this starting at 9:55 in the video Head-Fi did for the Aeon 2.
The measurement in bold, which is the X version looks like Harman IE target. Which is for iems. The obvious difference is more 4k presence, but how consistent are DC's driver responses?
At least with the measured one, the upper frequencies are better filled than the old ones. At least that's how the measured response shows of the differences.
We don't know how consistently these drivers measure. I would like to see companies measure several samples to prove that their driver responses are consistent like the representative measured sample..
I'm curious to hear impressions when people get these to see if they sound any different from AFOv1. Sounds like new pads and fewer accessories to keep costs down. Anything else?

If you look into the link on drop you will see Dan discusses what changes were made. There were modification on the pads and dampening material over the drivers.

I received my set of Aeon Open X today and they came with the same accessories as any other Aeon from Dan Clark. DUMMER Cable, four sets of filters, carrying case, and a 1/4" adapter.
Seems like these are getting reviewed more favorably from the Youtube reviewer crowd than the original. However, the people who's opinion I trusted the most liked the original a lot.
