I've been thinking about trying out the Darkvoice 336, and looking at the schematic I've found that I have most, if not all, of the parts and tubes needed to build one. There's also an article on TubeCAD with some suggestions for mods that I've looked at, but I'm starting with figuring out the PSU.

I have a 120v/400mA transformer that should give me about 150 volts rectified. I don't have a choke so I'll have to go with big caps for my filtering, I'm thinking a bridge rectifier and then 330uF - 20R/5W - 470uF - 20R/5W - 470uF. I also have a couple of huge 820uF/250v caps but they're probably a bit overkill for this circuit. The schematic I found shows the amp circuit, but the power supply isn't included so I wondered if anyone knows the size of the filter caps in the DV?

Do you have to build a darkvoice amp? What sort of headphones are you trying to power?
I don’t *have* to build the DV as such, but something close to it, using the same 6SN7/6AS7 tubes is my plan. I just have the parts needed for it and I like building stuff :)

My headphones are 32/55/150/320 ohms and I can go parafeed too, with a couple of 600:70 transformers I have.

The 336 is OTL so not ideal for lower impedance, but if you use parafeed that would help. You could also check out the Bottlehead S.E.X. kit (parafeed) or the Woo Audio 6 for units with output transformers:

Here's the plan so far:

I stole the cap coupling from TubeCAD and added a parafeed OT. I might try having two outputs, one OTL and one parafeed, depending on the headphones.
Some modifications could be a simple LM317HV CCS on the 6AS7 and LED bias on the 6SN7. The output cap might need to be a bit bigger too.
