Hey guys, I've been looking at picking up a pair of the Sennheiser HD 558's recently. However, I've noticed that the 555's, which from what I understand are the previous model, are a hell of a lot cheaper. Are there any significant differences in the two headphones? And would it be worth it to spend the extra money to get the 558's? Thanks.

You may not want either, those 2 are not very popular....for a reason.

The HD555 may be great for balancing music and gaming, but if its just for music or just for gaming going for a different headphone maybe a good idea.

Do you even know what you are talking about?

The HD555 are older, and very popular last year

The HD558 are the newer version and little brother to the HD598

I say get the HD558 if you want black. Get the HD598 is you want cream

Take the tape off the inside of the HD558 to get close to, like 95% the sound that you can get from the HD598

I wouldn't be using them for gaming at all, only for music. I listen to a mix of a number of different genres as well.

Good for gaming also.

And good for a mix. I use them as writing cans, and i listen to a lot of different sh!% as I write, so they would be good for a lot and best for Rock.

The HD558 would be best.
