They seem to be roughly the same price but I can't tell what the difference is and which is better?

The 558 is the new (read: new color) version of the HD555, which is one tier lower than the HD595. The HD595 also got a new (color) version in the HD598.
 
The HD595 is considered better than the HD555 and thus the HD558 as well.

I'm not sure if this is entirely accurate. I wouldn't let mere model numbers dictate the quality of a product. From what I've read the HD 558 and the HD 598 have new/updated drivers in them. So the changes from the HD 555 and the HD 595 aren't purely cosmetic. The reviews I've read on head-fi also seem to support this. Unfortunately, the HD 558 and HD 598 are relatively new models (especially in the US) so finding reliable comparisons is hard to come by.
