Also consider Linear Tube Audio MZ3. It sounds excellent with V2 and Phi. I actually have a TC on order and excited to hear it on the MZ3.

^ i was hoping that the moderators would have deleted the above post by now as it is off-topic and inappropriate. abyss has a history of not taking critical reviews of its products well and this is a typically petty response. conducting an internet search to find out what a youtube reviewer does for a day job in an attempt to publicly discredit him is unprofessional to say the least.

I‘d rather read reviews by an audio enthusiast who works as a carpenter, than a „professional reviewer“. The „professionals“ will most likely try to please the company since they are somewhat dependent getting money/products/review samples etc. from them. Therefore sugarcoating and/or giving only „really good“ and „excellent“ reviews is such a commonly seen thing.

I really like his reviews and guess what? I still love my MR!
…No reason to get childish if not everyone shares my impressions…

Seriously, as a major Abyss fan, I'm really disappointed to see posts like this from your guys.

I cannot for the life of me understand the energy that you guys put into posting negativity. Yet not once have you even seen you guys acknowledge the praise and joy that your cans give to people. Yet posting a snarky response about a reviewer's 'professionalism' – I assume that's what you were going for – is apparently a priority.

So Lachlan didn't like the MR. Or anything else you've done. Welcome to big boy school. If you don't want to hear that someone doesn't like your stuff, don't make anything in life. Ever.

You're being petty and ad hominem. Lachlan is as entitled to his opinion and to broadcast it however he sees fit regardless of his occupation or anything else about his life. It's the internet for god's sake. No one hired Josh Valour or validated his opinions any more than Lachlan's. Just because Lachlan doesn't like the MR doesn't excuse this.

Have a word with yourselves, please.

As is the case with most YouTubers, Lachlan is a public figure who makes no attempt to hide who he is or what he does. His website is his name.

He has a professional stance about his reviews, hence how it ties into his professional background as he describes it. I thought it was interesting how this translates, hence the link to his website to share thoughts.

As for his reviews, he’s certainly entitled to an opinion as in something being flexible enough, or his favorite color, or sounding a certain way, however his objective measurements and analysis of such are presented as factual- They are not and vary dramatically from our own and that of others. He’s outside his wheelhouse here.

Sure, the link was only posted because it was „interesting how it translates“ and not just as a cheap attempt to try discrediting him…sorry.

Regarding his measurements, it does not matter if they differ from the in house measurements as his measurement-rig might be completely different to what is used in the Abyss-HQ.

What matters is that he compares the MR with other headphones that were also measured on the same rig. Therefore his comparisons definitely hold true in relative terms.
Additionally, he had issues with the MRs treble after listening to several songs and not just by pointing at his measurements.

So the whole accusation of „he is being outside his wheelhouse here/ he is pretending his findings as factual“ is nothing more than amusing.

@JeoO it sounds as it you're suggesting that headphone measurements don't have to be accurate [or repeatable/reproducible] so long as the subjective assessment of the reviewer matches the results? Why bother making the measurement at all?

This is in part what we, Jude, Andrew and others at headphones.com, have been trying to help educate the public about. There's obviously more work to be done. If interested these guys just recently did a chat with Sean Olive about measurements. Here's a group with years of measurement experience, talking, sharing ideas and experiences, and still learning.
