Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

Looking great! I sure would love to hear these.

Same here. Glad to see they're making a black version; white and chocolate brown aren't my first choice for headphone colors.

Never heard any Abyss headphones but (based on all the reviews and assuming the Diana sounds close to the original Abyss) a much lighter, cheaper, and better looking version of an end-game headphone is tempting.

Still low sensitivity though so these will probably need a lot of power too. Not a problem with the right amp and, were I able to afford the high cost, they'd probably never leave the house.

Another photo from the website. I really like the way it looks. Other people think its really ugly, I guess I'm weird though as I like the way the AB-1266 looks as well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the Diana looks pretty cool (coming from someone who finds the AB-1266 so hideous I would not consider buying it regardless of sound :p)

Has there been any pricing indications on the Diana? If it will fall lower or higher than the AB-1266?

It will be priced around 3/5 of the Abyss Lite , so it will be cheaper yes.

$3k was the target price (some time ago).
Looks big enough to be over ear now rather than on-ear which is a plus

Yes, from the very begining it was a 56 mm driver , but now when there is a 63 mm, then the whole headphone housing have to be bigger most certanly and so it could be a over-ear headphone for most of the users.

Joe did say this much earlier in the thread

"Diana can be an over or an on-ear. Time will tell how she comes stock:)..."

Of course, this may have changed over time, I don't know. If over ear is still a possibility, I would definitely be interested in a pair of Diana for use as a transportable pair of headphones. I'd really like to hear a pair first though, but there are no dealers of Abyss Headphones in my City :frowning2: If Diana is capable of providing most of the sound of the AB-1266 at 330 grams, in a smaller more conventional package, then wow! I hope some impressions will come in after the show this weekend in Munich, and then hopefully some more once Diana is released.

Have any of you reading this thread pre ordered a pair?

From my info the Diana will come very close to the Abyss, mostly because of the new magnet-struckture design of their new driver they are using in both the Abyss Phi and the new Diana, but with diffrent specs that are going to differentiate the two. My guess is that the sound will most probably be very close, like 10-15% from the great one.

It would definitely be over-ear for most. My ears are on the smaller side, and the Focal Spirit Professional (a much smaller headphone) is fully over-ear for me, whereas it can be on-ear for some.

I haven't seen any links to preorder it yet.

Diana has Abyss DNA through and though, she can play bass, no worries here. However, Diana is not a an AB-1266, nor was she designed to be.

This is a headphone that plays well on more gear. Tonal balance is excellent, distortion is very low, she will play clean and loud, or subtly quiet.
Fit is comfortable and she's durable in all climates. This is a very different headphone, just like the AB-1266 was years ago.

Comparing to the AB-1266 is not really the idea. Instead, compare her to any any other headphone. If you want everything the AB-1266 offers, there is no other choice.
