Dethonray Honey H1 - USB DAC/AMP

Yup. Same thoughts.

The design of Honey H1, i'm assuming based on its footprint, is also meant to stack with a smartphone (acting as the transport).
USB-C port of the phone at the bottom, would link to the digital input side, while the other end is the headphone output. Makes the stack look like cables spilling out from all sides.

If the design could be done similar to how the HDA-HA2 was done, it would be ideal (at least for me).

Just thinking from a user experience perspective after stacking for a while.
Well since it’s not just an amp where the portable thing is very important, it’s ok to have the input on the other side. The Honey seems to aim at the ifi hip dac consumers. That DAC/amp has also the input on the other side (as nearly all other dacs) so it’s not surprising. If it would sound better than the hip DAC and is priced similarly (which I expect from a Dethonray product) then it’s a winner!!

Honey H1 is not meant to be related to the DTR1. On the contrary actually.

It works if your source is a smartphone, not my case, but more and more people use their streaming platform to listen to music.

DTR1 + HA-2 = supercharged DAP

Phone + Honey H1 = Streaming platform on steroids

It will be a direct concurrent of the FiiO Q5s
Is this gonna have bluetooth ?

Yes, maybe. But the annouced input/output structure will please a large audience. Do you personally think that Spdif input is mandatory for your own use?

I can live without it, but it's limiting to have only USB. For example, if it had spdif, I could stack with the Oriolus 1795D Bluetooth digital transport.

Yes, we are the 3rd of August... Patience guys  Anson said that he would do his best to launch the H1 this month. But, you know how this hobby works, do you? Some delay still is possible... I prefer to wait a bit longer and get a finished product that works instead of getting it "on time", but with flaws.

Be sure I will keep you updated as soon as I get new infos from Anson.

Meanwhile, take care and enjoy the music
