Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread

I don't hear any sonic differences, apart from losing the annoyance of microphonics, from Denon's stock cable. As a norm I run an Oidio cable with the 9200s because of the microphonics. I've also tried my Meze 1m 'Copper' cable with them and again no discernable difference and that cable would have cost £269 had it not been bundled with my new Liric 2 planars.

My main reasons for different cables have been the microphonic 'problem' with the 9200s. The ridiculously short cable supplied with the Focals and my stupidity in shutting a drawer on my Oppos and severing the right hand cable. I was gutted at that because the Oppos cable was absolutely brilliant.

I have bought the Forza cable to set it up with the Clear, later on, it became Denon. Like you say, i could not hear any differences. But the quality of the cable, when you compare it, to the stock cable of Focal Clear is like day and night. Luckily it fitted the Denon headphones.
Now, the Denon is sold and I am waiting for ZMF Auteur Classic LTD 24.

Just returned the DCA E3 since preferred my Denon AH-D9200’s. I was looking for an upgrade over the 9200’s and then DCA E3’s did not provide what I was looking for. Currently listening to Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb and the 9200’s do not disappoint. Next song up is, Eagles Hotel California and can I say the sound is great, tapping my feet as I type this. I had to pause and play Falco, Rock Me Amadeus, yes I am 58 and I am stuck in the 80”s, sounds great. Is there a better closed back then the Denon AH-D9200, I don’t know.

I've replied in your E3 thread and recommend you try the new Meze Liric. They compliment my 9200 very well indeed as I really like planars. I do have several albums that I prefer the Denons on, the Moody Blues SACD, Seventh Sojourn. Likewise the Meze sound better on Steely Dan's SACD of Aja. My Denons are keepers the pair most at risk of being sold on are my Focal Clear MGs.

Denon AH-D9200 Ear pads rolling finally found really comfortable and seal earpads, as always YMMV.

To me D9200 was a top tier sound. Intimate, but top tier for closed backs. This is one of the few headphones that I wish I should have kept

What earpads are these? Do they make them in genuine leather also? How do they sound now compared to the stock earpads?
These are Abyss Diana ear pads removed the base and glue onto Denon ear pads base plate. Abyss Diana has leather pads. The Abyss Diana suede pads smooth treble, fuller vocals and deeper bass and sub bass as these pads have really good seal and comfort.

Sincerely hope they will get repaired and will be as good as new. I am a Denon fan (ahd-7200, Ahd-900 from 1989 still working perfectly and three amps 22, 20 and 2 years old) but I have no experience with their technical service. Good luck!

I am a Denon fan too!

The only ones I did not like is the first pair I got a long time ago. Though otherwise I made sure I got some where you can easily replace things.

Looks nice, what headband cover is that? I really need to give the D9200 another try. I like the way they sound last time but the soundstage was very narrow unfortunately for me. I prefer a bit more airy sound.
