Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread

And what about ATH AWAS ?
I do not have the ATH-AWAS, and it has been nearly a month since I've heard them. I haven't been able to compare them side-by-side, however, since the store that I usually audition the Audio-Technica headphones at doesn't carry any Denon products.

However, from memory, the AH-D9200 has a more robust and textured bass presentation. It is also the brighter headphone, with very good clarity and detail in the higher registers. I preferred listening to dance music, my genre-of-choice, on the Denon, thanks to its sculpted and defined low-end region, coupled with an energetic and brilliant treble section.

Sorry for the less-than-helpful response, as my time with the Audio-Technica was very limited. Ideally, I'd like to compare the 2 together, and I'm hoping that I could find some time this week to do so. I might be heading down to my local store to audition a few headphones, including the ATH-AWAS, and if I do so, I'll bring along my AH-D9200 to compare the 2. I'll let you know again if I do so. :)

I don't know why but I fell in love with the denon sound many years ago. Though something is weird with me that my brain thinks in music and not in words. earlier this year i broke down after maybe a year or two of looking at the d9200s and just pulled the trigger and got them. also got an ibasso dx220 and amp 9 like right after, so i might be dumb, but i regret nothing

Hey, it's all cool. Having audio as a hobby is anything but dumb :beerchug:

Sure.
Here is a quick shot. :sunglasses:
With the balanced 2.5mm cable of the SEM5.

Thanks! I suspect it comes in two radiuses? The pictures I found on the internet seem to have a wider radius.

I also found the Pro version, which is clearly offered in two radiusses, 76mm and 68mm. 68mm seems to be a good fit.

I found a review of the AH-D9200 which features the Pro stand (https://kopfbox.de/testberichte/denon-ah-d9200-testbericht/)

Thanks for the link; I've never heard of this particular company before.

Nevertheless, they make some interesting and pretty stands, IMO. :)

Yes,
Thomann is a good source for their stands.

I can easily agree, lovely stuff. And there are some stands to mount on a wall. The company is in Germany I believe, but I couldn't find any prices at its site.

The forum user @albertmuc has that headphone stand :relaxed: And also he had a Denon AH-D9200. Look his pic here.

You can ask him about :relieved:

@jmills8 I recommend you try out the new Bose QC Earbuds. They are true wireless iems, and I would bet you'd dig the bass. Sound stage is large with large impactful bass. I'm really enjoying them. They feel like presentation of bass like D9200, but in TWS form.

The Denon was just a guest and hadn't made it to the throne, so unfortunately I can't tell you about the fit :disappointed_relieved:

What's a similar-sounding closed-back headphone to the d9200? Ideally ones with deeper ear cups? Priced $2000usd or less.

EDIT: I'm not driving these with an external dac and/or amp.

I'm on a search to get another pair of closed-back cans. Most recently I decided to jump into the $1000 - $2000usd price range, and first I've tried is these AH-d9200. I love the sound! However I must have big ears....... as they press against the insides, causing them to get pretty uncomfortable after a couple of hours. I've read about getting new pads (or modding), but it seems the best sound is staying with stock.

What are some other competitors to the 9200's that I could try?

So far I've identified Fostex th900 mk2, and Audio-Technica ATH-AP2000Ti as possible contenders. Any others you guys might suggest?
