Denon AH-D7000

If they die and leave behind an extra D7 driver I'd heavily consider it... it's going on 4 years searching for a replacement driver to bring my D7k's back to life.

My D7000 passed away this week... The right driver was already sounding a bit flabby, and now it started to crackle. The rubber ring at the edge of the membrane got worn out and brittle after 14 years, and it cracked...

The only place in Italy where they still have official replacement drivers was asking me 320 EUR for the job (plus shipping)... so I bit the bullet and bought a D7200 instead.

Anyway, this means that I now have a D7000 that works except for the right driver: earpads and headband are not the original ones of course, and last year I had replaced the grey foam dampening rings (with original spare parts). The rest is still stock and in good conditions: the metal frame, the wooden cups, the left driver, the cable...

If anyone needs some replacement parts for their D7000, let me know.

@Lucabeer - Maybe try reaching out to strategiry (although looks like he hasn't been on headfi since 2022)!

I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, but to those of you who have tried the th900 what were the pros and cons between it and the AH-D7000?

I have the D7000 and have considered getting the th900, but if it is basically the same I would not get it.

Edit for clarity

This is long memory for both but 900 is more V scooped, more sharp treble for sure, more recessed mid. I like the 7000 more, it has better mids, better balance - and is smoother and warmer. I don't think it's personally worth getting both, but they are somewhat different in signature. 900 is tough for me, I somewhat liked them but for their cost not as much.

Instead I have a sivga SV021, which actually reminds me a lot of the overall signature but they are warmer with a less aggressive treble and a nice sub bass presence.

Can you take a photo of your D7000 right and left drivers? There should be a manufacturer code stamped on the back (some letters and numbers).

First picture is Foster 481842 CHINA, second one is hard to read... 9H6? 9HD?

Anyway, I found two labs which have new spare parts: one is an official Denon lab, the other one is a Fostex lab. Even if I have the 7200 now, I still would like to revive the 7000 too... but not for 300 EUR!

If I remember correctly, Foster made the D7000 so parts should be interchangeable for the most part.

Not sure if they made changes when they started making the TH900.

In case you were wondering if AH-D7000 drivers are interchangeable with TH-900, they are in terms of screw position and dimensions. But the specifications are different, and the sound is different as well.

All genuine AH-D7000 drivers that I've come across so far are marked 481842
AH-D5000 and AH-D2000 drivers are identically marked 439360
TH-900 drivers are marked 568843
TH-900SB (Sapphire Blue) drivers are marked 548843
All Massdrop TH-X00 variants and E-Mu Teak are identically marked 606005

I'm sharing this information because sometimes I come across a higher-end Fostex with drivers switched from a lower-end model. Hopefully, you won't fall victim to scammers.
