Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

The D7200 headband could be fixed if the hard plastic film from inside its lower part could be removed, since it's too close to the head. But unfortunately it can't be easily removed, as the sewing would need to be opened up. It's a broken design, plus it's been made impossible to fix it in a reversible manner.

The D5200 headband looks much better, especially if it has more resilient and form-shaped foam inside instead of hard film and soft foam.

The D5200 headband has no hard plastic like found in the 7200. It's all foam, and I worn them today for 3+ hours without the headband overstaying its welcome, even though you can feel it and it's still not the best in class. They are reasonably comfy headphones, overall.

I'm not sure for now I quite like the way they're developing soundwise. They feel a bit shouty to me, and I find there's less sub-bass and more mid-bass than on the 7200. Not that they're bloaty, but for now they sound less refined to me than the big brother.

Have you tried to drive the 5200 with the 7200 stock cable?

And today, it arrived. Now it’s on a pink noise burn in. Going for at least 100 hours.

It would be really helpful, and cool, if you could post a photo of what these look like on the head. Either from front or back; I just hated the look of the 7200’s headband in the way it ‘spreadout’ horizontal-like. Kinda ruled out wearing out ‘n about!
And congratulations on your new purchase too.

I had the D7200's and thought they lack some treble detail. I see these are considered "Hi Resolution". So naturally I'm curious to see if the treble is better on these compared to the D7200's..

@Zaroff Can I ask if you manage to do comparisons between the D5200 and D7200! I am sure a lot of us are keen to hear how they size up against each other, thank you.

On another note, considering the massive following behind all the Fostex and Fostex-Made headphones, (as well as the D7200 following), Im surprised this thread is only 3 pages long... where dem Denon fanboys at
