Crazy to discontinue so fast - if true

Anyway, all the European amazon sites still list it at to close to list prices (441€-505€) Glad I grabbed mine locally at 350€

Amazon.jp doesn't even list the D7200, so it's not definitive. Denon's Japan site still lists it.

D7200 is still there, it's here:
https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/AH-D7...+ah-d7200&qid=1613493903&s=electronics&sr=1-2

D9200 is still there too:

D5200 is out of stock:
https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/product/B07BRJBYFT/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_3?smid=AN1VRQENFRJN5&psc=1

lol I figure I trust Amazon Japan because Denon is Japanese company so they usually get their inventory earlier than rest of us in the world.
Just bought a pair for 385 euros from a Dutch site.
I was thinking of going for the 7200s but cant really justify the extra cost.
I am trying to get out of the crazy cycle of continually buying headphones, and the 5200s should help as they are good at most types of music.
Man now I regret more and more for not grabbing a second hand one while I had the chance. I might have to go for Fostex TH610 instead.

Also yeah I agree I'm also forever searching for that perfect headphone (within price range of course, if money is no object I might have easier time).

Damn..... they discontinued already? So fast!!! Out of curiosity I went to Amazon Japan and tried to look for it and can't find it. So seems like the rumour is true.

Now I wish I grabbed a pair during the sale except it was US only so I couldn't order it for Canada also by the time I got around to it it was sold out already.

I wonder if it's discontinued because it doesn't sell well compare to D7200 / D9200 OR if they're planning for D5300.

Who knows for sure given the miscommunications that happen but I was told by Denon service directly (a US specialty service CS associate, not the primary call center [those folks were certainly friendly but always had to defer to this second office for my case]) that they couldn't exchange due to the discontinuation. I was surprised as well so we'll see if they are indeed gone for good or if they reappear at some point.

I just grabbed a set. Also purchased the E-mu Teak as well. Recently acquired the Kennerton Magni, so this should be fun.
When I bought my 5200s it was with the expectation that I’d do the Lawton mods to them, but then I found out it wasn’t compatible with the *200’s so no dice. I would strongly recommend doing that for your Teaks. I do have the Lawton Angle pads on my 5200s and am finally happy with my pad choice. Gives lots of headspace while maintaining good but not booming bass.

Thanks for the tip. We'll see what happens.

If the 5200 sounded like the 9200, who'd pay 1k more for the 9200?

(FWIIW the 9200 are described as rather bass heavy, so...)
True, but we sometimes hope, right? For me, I was hoping for similar bass quality. It has much bass, but it's done really well. If I were to pick one headphone for bass, I'd go with D9200. Bass is really expressive.

People may associate heavy amount of bass as too much, but the way D9200 is done is not like headphones with heavy bass that muddy up the sound. For example, CA Cascade is too much bass and muddies up the sound to some degree.
