Hi,

Is it possible to modify a pair of Denon ah-d5000 so that you can change the cable (e.g. a cable for home use and one for mobile use)? Possible or not how durable is the standard cable?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Heya,

Yeap. Brian over at BTG audio can mod your Denons (or any headphone frankly) to have a detachable cable with any length and terminate to anything you want (with adapters even if you want XLR, 3.5mm, 6.3mm, etc). I had him do two of my headphones and he does incredibly good work.

The stock Denon cable is durable enough but the mesh on the cable does wear off over time and fray. Plus it's just too long for most use. If you love your Denons, investing in a detachable cable that is a length and termination of your liking is a perfect way to go.

Very best,
