These are the phones that I am comparing, only theoretically.
My thesis is that the SRH940 will sound more like the AH-D2000 than the two others.
And that the SRH940 would be more like my music style.
I dont like that the SRH840 lacks the low-end bass and has more middle.
From the graph I can see that the SRH940 got more low-end bass compared to the rest of its spectrum, am I correct here?
Comparing the d2000 with the srh940 the srh940 would have less low end bass than the d200 and have less extension, Correct?
The srh940 have more middle, 200-600 hz (what instruments are in this range?) than the d2000 and I dont know which one I prefer here.
The srh940 does also have more low-freq treble, from 1000-4500hz and then spike up around 8-9kHz which should in theory make the srh940 a more sparkly headset than the d2000's, correct?

What I hate about the srh840 is the lack of low end bass compared, so the srh940 should be a win here?
I really like the sound of the d2000 but they are a bit out of my price range unfortunately, so trying to find a substitute here.
Based on these fact I think that I would like the SRH940, maybe with a little bass boost for those tracks and movies where it is required, but otherwise?

And if you have any recommendations about headsets please suggest them!
Any help and input here are much appreciated!
thanks!

Heya,

Unfortunately, graphs do not actually match the sound you'll hear from a headphone. Some do. But many do not. This is especially true with the SRH940 (as in, the graph is very misleading).

The D2000 has big sub bass. Flat mid bass. Slight recessed mids. Sparkly treble.
The SRH940 has extension into sub-bass that can be heared, but it's quite feint. It has a hole in mid bass. It sounds like it's very shy on bass. It has great forward mids and lots of treble.
The SRH840 is more neutral, a little bit of everything without much emphasis anywhere. It has more perceived bass than the SRH940, but less perceived treble.
The DT990 has more bass than the SRH's, slight dip in mids, and some sparkly treble. It's more akin to the D2k than the SRH's.

Here's some suggestions for headphones you will probably more enjoy since you're wanting something flat with good sub bass in the price range you seem to be looking for:

Fischer Audio FA-003
Ultrasone PRO 650

Very best,

I second the Fischer Fa003 or they can be also known as the HM5's or Lindy Hi-FI headphones, unofficially, but don't tell anyone.
