Your thoughts between D7000 an A100. What does the A100 sounds like bs. d7000?

I have the D7000 and I'm thinking of getting the A100.

Please share your thoughts of the difference in sounds between the A100 and the D7000's.
My D7000 are with Robert @ Aphrodite Cu29 for modification and new Zeus Cables, and
want to know your impressions.
By the way, for all you folks that love your headphones. Robert @ Aprodite Cu29 makes the finest
cables and is the best re-wiring person I have known. He also has been my mentor in my
journey to Audio Nirvana and is a great person to learn from. I just thought I'd throw that out there!
Thanks!

I liked the A100 much more than the D7000, mids are not recessed, bass is just right and it has a lively upbeat presentation. They also don't have the strident highs I did not like i the D7000. Best sounding Denon I've heard IMO.

Is the body on this plastic? It almost looks like aluminum in the pictures but if it shares the same body as the D1100 then it must be plastic?

It's plastic with aluminum colour.

Having heard both I find the A100 to have to strong bass for my liking especially mid-bass, I found they had similar midrange, and the treble was more extended and better detailed on the D7000, the A100 also had a bit of the cavern effect I dislike about a lot of closed headphones but don't seem to notice with the D7000, the sound stage of the D7000 was considerably larger as well. So overall for me the D7000 was a clear winner.

5 months after the purchase, I decided to recable it.

I had a chance to audition both the D5000 & A100 at my local dealer yesterday. As much as i "wanted" the A100 to sound better (i'm looking for the best possible sounding portable headphone), the D5000 (when volume-matched because it is less sensitive than the A100) is clearly more refined, smoother, cleaner and more detailed especially with mid/highs. And as others have mentioned, the D5000 also has a wider sound stage. I wish i could find the SQ of the D5000 in a portable can (or come within 90%). The search goes on.
