I'm thinking about getting the Denon 1100's - are they a good choice?

I like a lot of bass - but I want good overall quality as well.

Are the Denon's worth the dough?

Thanks for the reply.

I heard they have "heavy" bass... Can you tell me what that means exactly?

Heya,

It means if you like bass, you will like their bass. They're not neutral. You will hear a strong bass presence in all things. It means they can handle music like dub or EDM with authority, where a headphone that isn't so strong in bass response would suffer and sound hallow.

What music do you plan on hearing mostly? And are you a basshead?

Very best,

A wide range of music... I DEF do like a deep bass!

The Denons will definitely fill the bill, you should also take a look at the Sony MDR-XB700.

I would also recommend the XB700, MUCH more bass and for less money. I had both, and my XB700 definately got more listening time.

I like the D1100 alot! especially with EDM and hip hop. The bass is deep and highs are great but needs 50hrs of burn-in. I use them with my Sony Walkman and boy, these are awesome cans! It felt like i was in the club listening to them. These are much better than XB's and ATH-M50 in every department. I'm just wondering if the Ultrasone's are worthy upgrade from D1100. hmmm

yes, they're worth it! But it depends on what type of music you're listening to. IMO, they don't play nice with rock music.

How are the Denon's?

Are they actually worth dropping 150-200 on?

Denon AH-D1100 are definitely worth the price. Besides from the great bass and soundstage, they are also super comfortable and portable.
