Thanks for the hot tip Head-Fiers. My local Walmart was out so I drove to the next closest one and they had (4) Black 8GB units in stock for $49.99. No mention of a clearance or sale. Since the 8GB model is new, it doesn't make sense to me that they would be on clearance.

Anyway, I bought all 4 and will be giving some early birthday presents this year. I have a physically larger player but I have been wanting something tiny. Being able to play FLAC and Ogg Vorbis is also a definite plus.

And they seem to be charging a hell of a lot for an 8GB clip.

Someone else mentioned also that they saw a red tag with the $49.9x price...as I did, so no price check/scan needed.

Database? Doubt it. They probably looked at the price tag behind the glass. This IS Wal-Mart we're talking about here.
