Deal Alert: Futuresonics Atrio M5
Feb 23, 2011 at 11:53 PM Post #17 of 35
Just to let everyone know, I received an email from David Gray (Director of Client Services - FutureSonics) who advised:

'Just as a heads up, FS will not warranty Atrios sold through eCost... Also if you read the fine print from eCost, they do not accept returns or offer replacements'.

This was enough to put me off, as I feel a warranty on IEMs is quite important given their nature. You may decide the discount outweighs this issue though. Each to his own.

Just wanted to let you know though, as I'd definitely take the manufacturer's word over the dealer's any day!

that sucks for FS. I wonder how many owners of Atrios will have heartburn over FS not honoring the warranty. I know this will be my last FS purchase! Plus there are so many better sounding headphones out there. FS is like the underdog/outcast of the custom IEM's.

I bet if you have them from ecost and there's a problem, you can talk to David and get it sorted out. Future Sonics is pretty incredible that way.

Pout pout pout all you want dude, but lying about it isn't cool. You bought at a heavy discount and didn't read the print and then you cried and said it was someone else's fault. Future Sonics is completely honorable and they always honor their warranties. You bought a sharply discounted product from a discount re-seller. There was no warranty. It is the exact same for every other company. Monster, Shure, Westone, you name it.

Ha ha ha, this is just plain ignorant and wrong! Go ask Bono, or Justin Timberlake, etc. etc. etc. I asked the senior audio engineer who ran the sound for the live broadcast of the Country Music Awards and he said Future Sonics Ear Monitors were the best.

^comparing to RE0, the Atrios isn't as super detailed, but the RE0 cannot touch the Atrios in the low end and soundstage.

I agree with Kunlun, FS is a great company represented by David - very down to earth guy.

In regards to eCost.  That's how they do business - discounted prices, but sacrifice on warranty support as you're stuck dealing with the manufacture with the risk of not honoring it.

No I doubt it, the whole point of his email to me was to state that they would not honor the warranty if there was an issue...

Wrong, completely wrong. Also, misleading.

You're saying that there was a warranty promised to you and that now that promised warranty won't be honored by the company. That's completely wrong and you are intentionally twisting the facts.

You are responsible for failing to understand that there was never a warranty promised by ecost. You got a discounted item from a discount distributor, you never had a warranty and the fault is entirely yours. No earphone from ecost manufactured by any company has a warranty.

Future Sonics always honors their warranties, period.

Let's cool down and look at the fact first - eCost isn't really an authorized dealer for FS as they are not listed in FS's website, so they are 3th party reseller. This means standard limited warranty doesn't apply in the first place, regardless of price.

and the reason why eCost is selling them so cheap is because they are not selling. FS is doomed.

Yes, the reason eCost sells Microsoft Office is that it isn't selling.

That's strange. I've purchased UE products through ecost, and UE clearly listed them as an authorized seller. I guess it was foolish of me to assume they'd be authorized for all brands...

Almost bought a pair off eCost, however without warranty it seems like a bit of a dicey deal. I guess I'll just save up and buy a full price pair whenever I can.

Wait. I think you do get a full years warranty when you purchase from Atrios from ecost. I called they told me i get the warranty from Future Sonics when i placed the order. You can call ecost to make sure you get the warranty just to be certain.
