I haven't solved the TH-X00 puzzle yet; I thought my Aune was well suited to it - and it often is - but not always.  It's good w/ Valhalla 2 but I don't know if it's ideal.  Haven't even tried it on original Vali yet.
 
What the heck kind of magical HD800 transformation tube would that be?  The 6OMG?

So what is the major sonic issue, using the TH-X00 on the Aune? I realize there could be multiple problems, but if you could focus on a singular one - what would it be?
 
EDIT: And on a personal note, I've heard an do not have interest in the other Fostex headphones. They took what I thought Denon did correctly, and ran too far with it. Though the TH-X00 is vastly different from all my other headphones, I think it is the best option - the most balanced of the Fostex lineup today. I am keeping my eyes on the Fostex TH900 MkII thread, to see if they took a little of the goodness of the TH-X00 upscale.

I think I have now adjusted to the TH-X00 (or burned in, or changed my frame of reference, or put in rose colored glasses, or something). It's my primary headphone now for desktop. And I keep HD600 next to it so I can occasionally hear what the song ACTUALLY sounds like.

I think I've inherited your issues with the TH-X00, though this time with an Asgard 2.
But I like the Asgard 2 - it plays well with my best headphones. Odd...very odd...
