Yes. Quote:

What do you think of Flowing Tears - Razorbliss ?

I liked it a lot, but I didn't A/B it against Serpentine. Quote:

Same here I have a wide taste and I prefer bands with female or B&B vocals, takes alot to really convince me to listen to a male vocal only band, one band ive been considering trying is Green Carnation

I like Green Carnation quite a bit. But I don't mind male vox. How about some instrumental? Canvas Solaris -- totally dig.

New stuff has arrived from The End & Dark Symphonies ($8 each!)
Kalmah - Black Waltz (new)
Witchery - Fear the Reaper (new)
Thyrfing - Vansinnesvisor
Lullacry - Vol 4 (new)

Enverxis
Newest Lullacry is pretty good, wasn't expecting much and was surprisingly good, more like hard rock than dark metal but still fun stuff.

Need to get new In Flames but everyone seems to be sold out right now

yeah I liked it too.

Still have not recieved my latest order from Sonic Cathedral, possibly stolen during shipping as John says that there have been a few packages to Central/South American which have not arrived/been stolen and a handful to Africa which never arrived but were returned in the post months later.

Did you see the thread RTN08 made about the upcoming Virgin Black releases? (came via Subscription email)

It's better than their more recent albums, but stylistically all over the place. A few good songs in the mix.

Witchery has a new album!!! How is it? I have Dead Hot and Ready, and Symphony For The Devil. Both of witch I like fairly well.

I finally got Stormblast MMV. Picked it up at Circuit City the other day. Mine is an Ozzfest edition that said it had a cloth patch inside. It didn't.

Since I prefer the newer Dimmu stuff over the old stuff, I like the new version of Stormblast better than the original.

Been experimenting with a few bands lately, trying to get into them again.

Opeth
My Dying Bride
Green Carnation

I really do not see what all the fuss is with Opeth anyway, I played about 10 of their tracks and didnt like one of them hahah. I think the vocals are terrible, the growls have a demonic edge to them but they sound wrong compared to the deeper death growls I am used to, and the clean vocals I didnt like at all (call me crazy).
Plus the music just didnt work, sure its progressive, sure its good quality but it just didnt click, I didnt really "feel" anything at all, didnt get attached to the rhythms or anything.

Green Carnation were the same, didnt like either the vocals or the music.

My Dying Bride, shocking vocals (picky arent I) music was average at best.

Oh well, looks like Ill be sticking to the female vocal/B&B side of things for a bit longer

Well there are many groups from which to build a dark metall collection, but surprised that Opeth doesn't click for you.......

I got another good B/B CD from Dark Symphonies when I ordered Lullacry 4 called Summoner - Winter Solstice

Yes I know of Summoner, on Sonic Cathedral main page. Do they have a New Wave B&B (Ram-Zet, Beholder, Ebony Ark) or Old-Tristania/ToT sound ?

It is more old school not a new progressive sounding album........also after this debut CD band members changed so other albums by this group may not be as good.

PD
Will listen to Witchery soon........been long time since last album, thought maybe the group broke up.
Did you check out the Dimmu DVD of live show that came with Stormblast? Great sound quality for new Stormblast.....

Indeed, I thought I'd at least try once more.

I found a song I like ... Windowpane, off the Damnation album.

if the rest of the album is like this I probably would enjoy it as it is quite moody and has a nice gloomy feel to it that I really dig. The "Samples" I got of the other songs were of terrible quality also, like listening to rock or metal on an old car radio or some Logitech computer speakers, it just doesnt do it justice. This one is quite good, the clean vocals here have a nice tone to it and for some reason sound really different to the other songs i heard o_O.

Perhaps I've found my entry point
