Dapper for Mac updates: App to sync iTunes with your DAP

Dear all, I have found the problem that causing playlist import but with content.

here is the following solution.

the most important one is changing the setting in playlist format, where the end of the line should be "Carridge Return + New line (rn)"

this will turn the playlist format into the one export from DX80.

HOWEVER, there is still some problem with the characters,

in my music database contain multi-language in it, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, French, German....etc....

I'm sure so far there is no problem in Chinese(traditional and simple both is ok), English, Italian, French...

but the Korean and Japanese characters have some half-width/full-width issue which may cause the ibasso DX80 can't recognize the characters, then DX80 won't import these songs in the playlist.

And if you really want to import these songs into your playlist content.

make a playlist include all your Korean and Japanese songs and export it under Win system (b/c Mac will always show as half-width, so it look nothing problem)

then replace the characters in your playlist contain Korean and Japanese songs from the playlist export from DX80.

hoping Dapper can improve these characters problem in the future.... :)

provide my experience to all the user who may have the same problem with me.

Try using the character stripping settings on the utilities page. “Strip most characters” may work well, unless all characters are “special”...

Check out the manual at map-pin.com to see more details on special characters

For Dapper, only English characters are not special

I have try this one before, but it will remove most of the characters of my each files.....and turn my SD card profile very wired, and hard to find out song by look in SD card.

So far only Korean characters will has this problem, and some of the long name Japanese songs with lot of katakana or hetakana.

I have reset the Ibasso defaults in Dapper to carriage return and new line.

I understand - this is "Special" as far as operating systems are concerned - Dapper isn't discriminating

The underlying operating systems for Android as one example in this case, don't do well with unicode characters of certain types in the actual file system and playlists. If the Filesystem uses a specific version of Unicode, and the player software is not the same (which happens a lot with manufacturers who don't know Unicode) then the player software will misinterpret the Unicode and fail to read properly.

The issue you are having lies in this interaction.
You have already successfully played with the carriage-return-newline combination, in addition there are a ton of other options for this Unicode on the same playlist page:
First is whether the byte order mark is selected or not, an this may help. (See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte_order_mark)
Second is the selector for UTF8/UTF16 little endian or big endian. I doubt this is the issue, but you never know.

If nothing works, the DX80 isn't reading anything you can send to it, and it's time to talk to iBasso to have them fix special characters in playlists.

New feature up: Ability to transcode to FLAC on the fly under the options tab. Transcode music on DAP using FLAC

Youll need to re-install the latest Dapper Scripts to get the functionality (This adds metaflac command line tool in order to save artwork to the FLAC files): https://www.map-pin.com/ds/

Happy November all

I am about to publish a new version of Dapper which fixes some bugs, but more importantly introduces custom playlist sorting.

Check it out:

Hello Jeremy,

it has been a while since I last was on this website, and that we have discussed the sort order problems in exports out of iTunes. Also, the chances that Apple would focus on such problems would be quite marginal, as long as they don't have their own new players out which need that support. But recently, after I made all the updates, I found out that there is a new option for custom sorting in Dapper, which addresses exactly that topic. So I headed to this forum, and found your November video explaining the new functionality. I was very glad that you could find a solution, because it is indeed a good way to quickly regain overview of a pretty big music database. For me, it works perfectly like this, and makes listening to music on my DAP a more comfortable, richer experience.

Still, I cannot leave here without describing another issue: As I am often creating music files on my own, from different sources, I first import them to the iTunes database, as wav or aiff. In iTunes, I convert these files to AIFF-files that iTunes officially supports. That way I am able to also save my own artwork with these new files. In iTunes, everything looks and works perfectly, and the right piece of artwork gets displayed for every one of those tracks. When I transfer them via Dapper to my FIIO X1 (2nd Gen), the files are there with no issues, but while playing them the artwork that gets displayed is not the right one. Instead, some other artwork from another one of my tracks gets displayed. As there obviously is no separate artwork folder in my X1 file system, I was wondering, if there might be another issue with exporting AIFF-files from iTunes in that manner. To me, it seems as if the artwork gets stored in the file itself from iTunes, and maybe that connection somehow gets lost during the export of music files? The problem persists only among my self-created files, and doesn't include artwork from purchased files. Also, it occurs both while playing music from playlists and from other points of the file system of the X1.

For now, I would like to wish you (and your team?) a pleasant holiday season.

Kind regards,
Reinhard

H, Reinhard

Art is handled differently on a bunch of different platforms and this difference usually causes the issue.

First, itunes may not actually save the artwork into the file itself. In a lot of cases its stores only in the iTunes library. This can be forced by using the script available here: https://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=embedart

Second, if the device (like your FiiO) does not see any artwork in the file itself, it may go look for a folder.jpg file in the album directory - and we do save that in Dapper, but its the same for all songs in an "album" and certainly if each file has a different artwork this could be your issue - there is only one per folder.
I am not sure how the FiiO X1 does this - if it prefers the folder.jpg over whats in the files, or even if you have artwork embedded in the music files or not.

Can you take a look at using the script on a set of music to check?

Hey @teknorob23

Is it showing up on your Mac as a disc when you connect it? If you hop onto support.map-pin.com we can help!

thanks for coming back to me, but no its not appearing as a drive when i connect. i've tried on my my macbook pro, imac and mac-mini and its appearing on any of them. I have been able to connect and upload music via android transfer, but obviously this doesnt allow the features Dapper offers. I'll head over to support map now and hopefully you can get me started, thanks Rob:)

Version 3.41 is in the App Store! Theres a new feature I added to help you upgrade to HiRes:

It scans your library for music thats available at a higher quality to purchase from HDTracks. For each album it submits a request to www.map-pin.com and we deliver results, so its not going to be super fast.

All,

Im looking for a few folks to beta test a new version of Dapper. It adds the HD tracks checking inside the app but I don't want to push it to the App Store without some testing.

PM me if you be willing to try the newest version:
