Dapper for Mac updates: App to sync iTunes with your DAP

Jul 31, 2018 at 3:27 AM Post #226 of 332
Hey Jeremy - the latest version seems to now auto list the hd resolution options from the music synced, can this be default to off? or atleast, a toggle to turn this off.

Love playlist sorting idea, but issue I have is I can not set the direction. e.g date added, I have itunes playlist ordered from most recent to oldest. using the playlist sorting, it can only organise the playlist as oldest to recent. if this could be fixed it would solve me always having to 'copy music to playlist ordered' to have it as needed. thanks!

Yes! There is a setting in the options area:

You can double-click the sort field to change direction:

Calling all testers!

I regularly make updates to Dapper and add functionality. It turns out that I spend a ton of time doing testing myself, and since I have a few devices and different iTunes libraries, this mostly goes fine, but I would love to get some folks signed up who would be happy to test Dapper for me.

As it is, I release versions fairly aggressively and have to "fix" issues users find that I could not.

For example right now:

[Version A on App Store]--------Development--------[Version B on App Store]-------Bug fixes--------[Version C on App Store]
I would instead like to rather reduce the number of updates I have to push to the store but still have users who could test for me:
[Version A on App Store]--------Development--------[Version B to beta users]------Bug fixes--------[Version C on App Store]

So, I am asking for you to DM me if you'd like to help and be one of the users who would test Dapper versions art the same general update frequency as now, but could spend the time if I send an update to run a sync or two and test that all works for your DAP.

Ideally I need a few users with Android based DAPs (Onkyo, Pioneer, AK, FiiO X7 etc) and a few with Disk based Daps (Sony WM1A, Fiio X1,X5 originals etc)

Please DM me if youre game. I have an update specifically for Android based DAPs which will auto detect if you connect the player or plug in cards directly, making sync a lot easier... but I don't want to have to just push it out and break something for all Android users if there is something I missed.

Perfect, thanks Jeremy.

In a future release if their is anyway for dapper to replicate "copy to play order" this would resolve most playlist sorting issues i think.

edit: or if 'year' could be added as a playlist field this would be really helpful.

Hi Jeremy - I don't use playlists in iTunes. I'm in the process of setting up a Poly and I've had problems with my MicroSD card and DLNA database as I have c7k songs.

If I want to just copy across my whole music library to a Poly MicroSD card on my Mac, how would I do that in Dapper without playlists?

Thanks in advance.

All,

I have a potential update that I believe could help Astell and Kern users whose devices use MTP a LOT.

I need someone with an older unit (slower unit) to help test. Anyone game? Anyone got an old AK they don't use all the time they can play with to test?

Please DM me

Hi Jeremy,

Possible feature request:

Would it be possible for app to detect LoRes vs HiRes files and only sync the HiRes version. If not, could there be an option to separate where the different files are saved?

LoRes copies are needed for iTunes/iDevice purposes that don't naturally play HiRes music, but obviously duplicates are not warranted.

Separate Res locations would make it easier to find all HiRes music in a large database.

New version of Dapper is up that does two new things:
It shows a confirmation box that lets you know the details of what's about to be changes, not just the summary, and does it in the app instead of the old web page:

For android based DAPs, I have enabled a batch mode for MTP commands which I hope will improve the reliability especially for older Astell and Kern devices: (It turns on automatically for Astell and Kern devices)

I would LOVE to get some feedback from some folks on Astell and Kern AK240/380s etc on how this works for you now.
