Hello

This is my 1st Post from a long time lurker.

Firstly this forum is an excellent source of information, my thanks in advance for any advice received….

I have just dropped my HD600’s, causing the grill to pop off and the left driver to fly out. The driver took a bit of a battering…

The driver is damaged and now distorts at medium levels.

I work as a live sound engineer so I am assured that it is indeed the driver that is the problem, and not a cable/amp issue.  I have preformed all the relevant tests to prove it is the driver at fault.

I can’t find a part code for a replacement HD600 driver; However the Sennheiser web site lists a part code for a replacement HD650 driver.

I was wondering whether the HD650 driver would fit into the HD600 and whether anyone has done this with good results?

Also has anyone recently bought replacement HD600 drivers? Do Sennheiser still produce these as spares?

I am overiously planning on changing both drivers...

Very gutted, Oh well gone back to using my trusty “Work” DT150’s.  These in comparison are built like a tank but are nowhere near as comfy.  DT150’s are a sound engineers friend, but not really suited for causal home listening.

Any way, thanks again for any advice given and keep up the good work

Kind regards

Adam

They should have spares, they are $60 bucks + shipping approx.

Hello

Ok, I have an account with Sennheiser UK (I run a Live sound company), and I can confirm that Sennheiser no longer sell replacement HD600 drivers.

They do sell the new neodymium HD650 driver.

They do repair damaged drivers, but there is a 4-6 week lead time on repairs.  This might well be my only option.  I was hoping for a quicker solution.

Coming back to my original question, has anyone tried HD650 drivers in the HD600 unit?

Thanks in advance

Adam

Can't find the exact posts right now but there have been a couple people that have done this (replace the 650 drivers in their 600s/580s) recently. I myself am about to do the same thing, was just trying to look up the part number before I called.  I have HD580s but am going to order 650 drivers with 600 grills.

I would'nt advise it although similar in sound the hd650 has a slightly different sound signature to the hd600 i think the hd600 is slightly more neutral, a repair or find some damaged hd600's to salvage a driver.
