Has anyone had a chance to compare K17 with K9 AKM? I have the K9 AKM. The K9 amplifier (2W) doesn't drive HE6SE v2 well. I am wondering how the K17 (4W) performs? The DAC chips are identical. The add-on streamer and PEQ definitely worth the price, but wondering if any significant improvements in Dac and amplifier.

Hi. I have the K9 PRO AKM and recently the K17. For me the main difference is in the amplification stage. The K17 having more power makes the sound fuller, with more authority.

I have not compared them as only DAC.

I also have the HE1000se and I couldn't be happier with the sound I get from the K17. The FiiO DSP works very well. I find it cleaner than others like APO or MathAudio for foobar 2000.

I sold my K9 for the K17. But I tested it first. The k17 has an AKM 4499 chip per channel, so 2, the k9 only had one. The k17 also is an A/B amplifier, the k9 a thx 788+

I can't really explain the differences, it sounds crisper with more volume and drier in the bass but more punch.
It depends sure from the headphone.
I use a HD660S2, will test it with a Mirph-1 soon

These are my impressions.

When talking about FiiO DSP you mean the one integrated in the unit or is there an app for remote (external device) control?

The K17 has a built-in chip that allows for Bit Perfect equalization. On the device you can select different preconfigured equalizations (rock, dance, etc.) and 10 configurable via the FiiO DSP app.

I love mine!IMG_8955.png
Hi, hello.. i'm quite new here. Would you be able to compare the k17 to adi-2 dac fs? My "potentially" most demanding headphones are edition xs and the regular hd800, seems a bit close to what you have. (Without a question they both sound great,..) To my understanding Adi-2's seems like a solid staple for the longest time and its easy to adjust eq capabilities are quite attractive; on the other hand, k17 is a contemporary unit and power wise might make planars more happy?

I may be totally wrong in my way of thinking, but i'm looking forward to a comparison between these two units. Many thanks!

Thanks for the link. In this case it’s nothing for me, as I don’t like to bring my laptop to the unit to be able to connect it by cable.
