DAC and Headphone Amplifier · Streaming Media Receiver · Local Playback All in One Unit, FIIO K17 Is Officially Released!

Mar 6, 2025 at 9:44 AM Post #257 of 489
I got rid of my desktop gear about a year and a half ago to switch to portable sources only, but now I got one of these on order after getting some hands on time with it at CanJam. Absolutely love the form factor and excited to try it with my headphones! My initial floor impressions with my IEMs I brought with were really promising and it feels like a very competitive all in one.

Grazie,
aspetto la tua risposta.
"dischi rigidi portatili"
dovrebbero essere gli hd da 2,5?
Grazie

I just connected my Crucical x6 2tb, doesn't work. A USB stick with 64g ntfs or exfat works perfectly. I'll test a 2tb HDD later.

Hi FiiO, the new K17 is epic, are their plans in the future to add VU meter support to USB playback? I am aware it is currently only supporting streaming and local files. Having support USB would be amazing!!

K17 really got my attention, especially the build, design and PEQ. I am looking for a DAC/AMP that sounds similar to Hifiman EF400 (as much as I love it, lack of bluetooth is killing my daily needs), K17 seems to be it.

@FiiO
Please let me know when K17 will be available in India?

Probabilmente funzionerà solo con chiavette USB e micro SD. (Funzionano per me, fatemi sapere)

Seems like more interesting products are in the pipeline. (Especially #5 is interesting to me. Vacuum tubes from my country? Nice...:metal:)

FIIO 2025 New Product Schedule(5) Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifiers and Peripheral Products
In 2024, FIIO’s newly launched products such as the K19, K17, and K11R2R received great recognition. In 2025, FIIO will introduce even more distinctive, aesthetically pleasing, and powerful new products, including:
1. New Mid-range Desktop DAC/Amp K13 R2R
This product is priced at around 300 USD and is planned for release around June. From the model name, you can tell that it features FIIO’s self-developed R2R DAC circuit.
After the launch of K11 R2R, it gained widespread popularity, and many users requested a higher-end model based on R2R technology. The K13 R2R was developed to meet the demand for higher power output, more features, and more connectivity options. I believe this product will be as well-received as the previous K11 R2R.
2. New Mid-to-High-End Desktop DAC/Amp K15
Positioned between 400~550 USD, this model fills a gap in our product lineup to meet the needs of different user levels. It is expected to be launched around June.
The K15 adopts the same design and structure as the K17, but the main differences are that it uses a switching power supply, and a more cost-effective DAC chip, while removing the expensive ADI independent DSP chip.
3. High-End Desktop Bluetooth Receiver BR15
Currently, FIIO offers two desktop Bluetooth receivers, the entry-level BR13 and BTA30 PRO that was released years ago. As Bluetooth technology is advancing rapidly, we have planned a higher-end desktop Bluetooth receiver, BR15.
The BR15 will feature a display screen for an improved user experience and will utilize Qualcomm’s flagship QCC5181 chip, supporting aptX Lossless and other high-quality Bluetooth codecs.
The BR15 is expected to launch around October with an estimated price of around 200 USD. It will also support XLR balanced output, making it particularly suitable for adding lossless Bluetooth reception to desktop HiFi systems.
4. High-End Desktop Bluetooth Transmitter BT15
Unlike our previous plan, the BTA30 PRO is a combined transmitter and receiver, which means its built-in DAC is redundant for users who only need transmission. Therefore, we have planned a high-end desktop Bluetooth transmitter, helping users save on unnecessary costs.
The BT15 is also expected to launch around October, with a price of around 150 USD.
5. New R2R + Tube Amplified Balanced Output Pure DAC – WARMER
This is likely FIIO’s first product featuring vacuum tubes. It has a retro design with two large VU meters, giving it an extremely strong vintage aesthetic from the inside out.
If you have a particular preference for analog systems and the warm sound of vacuum tubes, this product is worth looking forward to. However, its sound signature is quite bold, and we are uncertain whether it will suit most users.
By the way, this product uses imported Czech vacuum tubes, with genuine high-voltage power supply and a classic circuit design, ensuring an authentic and traditional tube timbre.
6. New Linear Power Supply PL70
This product is a HiFi-grade, ultra-low-noise precision linear power supply, designed for FIIO devices with external power inputs. It has a rated output of 70W and is a significant upgrade over the PL50 in both performance and aesthetics, blending better with FIIO’s current product lineup.
It is compatible with FIIO’s K11, K11 R2R, K7, K13 R2R, K17, M17, M27, M15S, M25, etc. Of course, this product won’t have large sales volumes, as it primarily caters to our existing users’ needs.
In addition to the models mentioned above, if we have the energy and resources, we might also consider developing a genuine Class A headphone amplifier. The main reason is that truly authentic Class A headphone amplifiers are quite rare nowadays, and we suspect most consumers have never experienced one, making them easily misled by marketing buzzwords. Genuine Class A amplifiers, due to their low efficiency and significant heat generation, have high costs. They have actually fallen out of popularity since we entered the industry decades ago. However, "Class A" remains a term often exploited for marketing purposes. Therefore, we thought it would be interesting for FIIO to create one, to show everyone what a truly classic Class A headphone amplifier is really like.
As for currently available models such as the K5 PRO, K7, K11, K11 R2R, K19, PL50, and SR11, they will continue regular production and sales.
Attached is a rendering picture of the WARMER, which some users may have already seen in previous concept designs.

This is nice and all but they have to work on their firmware/software side as well…not just attractive hardware releases.

❌ Wifi password with special character still doesn't work. ❌

Additional info. Current network encryption is on WPA2/WPA3 Personal. I switched to pure WPA2 Personal (while using the same password with special character) just to try if the K17 will connect, no good - still won't connect.

❌ BT pairing mode (straight out of a Reset All) - still doesn't go to pairing mode! ❌

❌ K17 at one point was stuck on PO+PRE and UH ❌

Even after multiple Reset All - still stuck at PO+PRE and UH. This is when I also noticed that BT pairing mode doesn't work.

I had to turn off the unit using the AC power switch. This is the only time the unit was back to normal operation (I'm on PO and M)

@FiiO

With all the feedback I'm giving your team, I'm looking like part of your beta tester - CanJam SG is coming up - I should get some token from you for doing this! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Adding to the list @FiiO

:x: VU Meter is frozen playing DSD64 local files 🤷‍♂️ :x:

No need to upload video because it's a frozen VU meter, needle doesn't move.

20250311_152057.jpg

EDIT:

I have videos of this frozen VU meter AND stuck on PO+PRE and UH - I can show it to you during Canjam SG.
