Dear friend,

Hi, if everything goes well, the new firmware will be available in the end of this month.

Best regards

3. Screen time - tried for the 4th time. If set to 15/30sec, 2mins - once the screen turns off then after a few seconds turn the Menu/Volume wheel - the screen WILL turn back on. BUT if you set the screen time to 1min - once the screen turns off, turning Menu/Volume wheel will NOT turn the screen back on. You need to totally turn off the unit and turn it back on to gain access to the screen. I don't have further time to check - 5/10/30mins.

4. To be sure, I used my router and enabled Guest network. Confirmed that the K17 will NOT connect to a wireless network with password that includes special characters. All alphanumeric is fine. It will also NOT connect to mixed WPA2/WPA3 - only WPA2.

Including #2 (Inconsistent Bluetooth pairing mode activation)

Please include the resolutions in your firmware update.

EDIT: Additional comment on BT

Just for the heck of it, I reselected BT again and to my surprise - the K17 didn't automatically reconnect back with my phone. Turn off/on both K17 and phone. Off/on BT on phone. Select K17 on devices list - failed to connect. It's as if the K17 totally forgot my phone is paired with it.

1. Yep, this one I already figured out.

2. I prefer to install stable, official released firmware on my unit. Unfortunately, I'm not willing to test beta firmwares.

3. Nope, screen time off I tested 3 times just to make sure. Once the screen is turned off due to screen time out, you won't be able to turn the screen back on. Tapping on the screen, turning knobs - nothing, screen is still off. Only way to get your screen back is to totally turn your unit off and back on again.

4. I have 20+ devices connected my network. I won't be changing the password just for 1 device. Yes, my password has special characters. But to answer your query, I will try via wifi hotspot later once I'm home.
I've had the K17 for a couple of weeks now. If the screen doesn't come on by turning the volume knob or using the volume control on the remote control, I've found that a double press of the volume knob on the unit will bring it back on. Wi-fi connectivity also doesn't work for hidden networks as there appears to be no way of manually entering a network name if the network isn't listed. I was able to add my network when it was visible and that was also using non-alphanumeric characters, e.g. @
I also found that resetting the network or bluetooth in the settings doesn't always actually reset them. Looking forward to future firmware releases to fix bugs and introduce new features. Sound quality is excellent.

I got my unit in today. Noticed a few minor annoyances I have with it. The framerate on the VU meter needles is slow and choppy. The VU meter also seems inaccessible under the USB input. There is no independent volume from any of the output selections, the volume level will remain the same as you switch between the options. So if you are switching from Pre-out to headphones, make sure to turn down the volume appropriately before switching the output.
@FiiO
Is there any response to these VU meter issues?
Can we expect to see VU meter support for USB input and a fix for the choppy refresh rate? Im fairly certain Gadgetrytech reported the same issue

Being in the beta testing for 1K$ is too expensive and too common in audio these days.
Guess I need to wait...

Other than that the design and features are what I'm looking for.
Hope the firmware team at Fiio can deal with the release, strength to them.
Agreed. I was looking to get this but there are so many bugs it feels incomplete. Things like not being able to connect to wifi properly is very odd. It's pretty much a commodity feature that you assume works perfectly. Same goes for bluetooth connectivity. No matter how pretty it is if I can use it the way I want then I can't possibly justify buying it. Unfortunate.

To give an opinion from other side of coin.

I will say that after having mine for 3 weeks now. I haven’t experienced any bugs. I have used streaming options but was able to use a LAN connection as I try to avoid WiFi when possible regardless of the device. One of big selling points was it had LAN. Also I have been switching from using it as a Line Out versus just an all in one amp with zero issues. Maybe I am just adjusting gain in advance for the headphone I plan on using. I have 2 USB-C’s plugged in from my Mac Mini M4. One to control PEQ using Mac Store FiiO app and other to output to DAC. No issues with any of my experiences and just loving this unit.

Ripeto:
i vu meter sono davvero brutti da vedere funzionare a scatti. Lo streaming limitato e tutti gli altri bug che ho letto...sembra un giocattolo a buon mercato. Sto pensando di acquistare il Topping.
Peccato
Che ne dici?

Aune streamers may be an option
