Dear friend,

Here is the feedback I got from the engineer. Are you switching from PRE to PO+PRE?
Generally ,when using the same volume at the same gain, the output volume is consistent. But the exception is that when switching from PO+PRE to PRE. The gain is valid for PO. (In PO+PRE output, gain is valid. )
But for PRE output, the gain is invalid. So the output level of the same line out port and same gain in PRE mode will be higher than the PO+PRE mode.

Best regards
It occurs when I switch from PRE to PO which leads to the inconsistent output level.

thin, brighter and more analytical
Before burning out and changing fuse and finding that best gain is SH:)
Now sound is really balanced with good resolution.
It's close to K9 imho. Not a big jump from it.
At the same time - base is not high-weighted. And soundstage not a big. So I would try external headphone AMP. To see what will be the difference.

But for now - no regrets, for its price I really like this beast:)
I am just fair with myself, it's not level of teac 701 that 3k$.

Do you own a 701?
enviable!
We are looking forward to the arrival of k17
Personally, I'm especially looking forward to the headphone amplifier section, which is not a thx.
I hope you will exceed thx!

I owned. Now it is sold because in my AC setup - it's not used anymore. And in my headphone setup - it is too large for the table.
looking forward to the headphone amplifier section
I would say that it is more natural than thx. But I am not "impressed", like when I was connecting my headphones to AMP like cayin ha3a or holo audio bliss.

Unlike last time, K17 did not use thx this time.
Is it because we were able to create a circuit with better sound quality than thx in the stationary version?

Dear friend,

Hi, which output port are you using? Line out port or PO port?

Best regards

Dear friend,

Hi, using discrete transistor current amplification, the midrange vocals can be more emotional than the THX.

Best regards

PRE is controlling RCA out to powered speakers. PO out to 6.35mm and 4.4mm balanced headphones and IEMs, both have the issue of being on high gain when I switch the knob from PRE to PO despite the gain knob being set to L.

It is the same issue shown in GadgetryTech's review at 4:30.

In a way I'm glad you have the same issue, as that aligns with my suspicion of a firmware bug and not some odd defect with internal components. Did you need Low gain for your gear? My work around has been to just use medium gain and rely on the wide number of volume steps, even for my IEMs.

I don't necessarily need low gain, but it would be nice for the gain to be the setting that the knob is set to. Speaker volume and IEM volume on low gain happens to be around the same number so I don't have to play with the volume knob every time I switch between them. Ideally, I wished it was like how the RME ADI-2 DAC is where each output has its own independent volume that the device remembers. The ADI-2 DAC remembers the volume setting I left it at for line out, 1/4" headphone out, and 3.5mm out. It also has a feature where the volume slowly reaches the level set when switching outputs. I have accidentally blasted my speakers when I forgot to lower the volume while switching back to the PRE a few times.
