I recently bought a new DAC and AMP to be used with my computer. I needed a new/cheap sound card that offers optical output so that I can hook up my DAC to audio card via optical cable. I was going to buy a cheap audio card "Turtle Beach Riviera 5.1 Channel" from amazon for $30. Will this do the trick? Do I need a better sound card to unleash the full potential of my DAC and AMP? or will the DAC bypass the audio card, so the bit and sampling rate doesn't matter? Because there are some other cards that are 16 bit, I was wondering if this is going to be sufficient.

I need help before purchasing this audio card. I'm broke after buying the DAC and AMP so I have to spend my money wisely. So those of you who are more experience than me, please help. Thanks

i think you know the answer already.

the soundcard cannot pass along 24bit or 32bit audio to a DAC that can accept 24bit or 32bit audio.. so there is a kink in the hose.

if there isnt a kink in the hose, there shouldnt be any problem unless you want to add sound effects to the audio before giving it to the DAC.
sound processing includes an equalizer or time alignment or phase adjustment or reverb or echo.. etc.
