A few Mods & data points...
Going back 5 years ago, it was advised by Tony Devitt to clear Roon cache or even fully reboot my new CX/EX if I felt there was a glaze over the music.
I recently ran a daily listening experiment for 5 weeks whereby streaming Roon overnight, I felt there was an irritable static over the music the next day. The experiment was to listen to a fixed set list [later reduced to one song], reboot from the front panel, listen to the same songs and then perform a full power reboot. I consistently found the full power reboot "cleared the audio windshield" satisfactorily over the front panel button boot.
As I have posted on this thread, I've tried a number of power supply mods including replacing the linear R-Core power transformer with iFi Elite SMPS to gain a 50-70% expansion in soundstage and holography over the "meh" G2 factory upgrade.
Since the on-board MoBo DC-DC converters that take the 12V main power feed to distribute the required voltages to the Processor, memory, USB and Ethernet chips, run at 200KHz or higher, I ran another set of experiments adding additional filtering capacitance from their outputs at the inductors [see MoBo image] to earth ground.
The outcome was calm transients, much more clearly defined soundstage.and holographic definition and profound rendering of previously unheard low-level details.
Now, after full system power reboot, there is no mistaking an immediate expansion in holography 1 second after hitting PLAY..
I'm enjoying much more spacial information in the rock music I listen to - most noteworthy, "YES" recordings. The studio rendering of voice and instrument tracks that are out of phase, especially if they appear outside the speakers on one side only, adds new dimension to the listening experience. The voices in "We Have Heaven" and "The Venture" are in multiple locations outside the speakers. The multiple guitars that open Siberian Khatru are also much more precisely defined and their previously blurred transients have been significantly cleaned up.
Sequence of changes up to this point -
G2 OLADRA CX/EX Factory Upgrade - 20-25% soundstage expansion
In G4-fashion, iFi Elite SMPS to replace the R-Core Linear XFMRs feeding new G2 PS board - 50-70% soundstage/holographic expansion over G2 upgrade
The Server benefited most with the EX/Player contributing perhaps 5% of overall SQ improvement. The already 180 degree playback entered into holographic presentation.
Replaced stock IEC power connectors with fuseless/switchless copper IEC - 4% improvement after SMPS upgrade
ADUM 3166 USB Galvanic Repeater w/OCXO between Player and Phoenix [Compliments and Improves Phoenix USB performance]

Adding onboard filter capacitance on all 6 DC-DC converter outputs [generally .1uF, .01uF, .001uF, 20pF] was transformational.
I'd include a picture but since the process was iterative Rube Goldberg, its for now spaghetti wiring...
