Are you using AES or USB to your DAC?
Hello Ken,

Are you using the i2s output and what HDMI cable you recommend?
I have an AQ Diamond but I don't like it's "too warm" or "mid-range focus" sounding.

Pre-ordered a Samsung 870 QVO 8TB SSD, can't wait to install it to K50 to compare the sonic performance vs my old Samsung 2TB SSD.🥰

I just found that I cannot copy music to the desirable HDD to compare the sonic difference between different SSD as the 2 SSD HDD inserted mix into a single pool (music folder).

I’d imagine other than speed, no difference in sq anyways.

I have an 870 4tb and crucial 2tb in my K30. I can hear when it jumps from a sector on the 870 to the crucial. NOT.

I can definitely hear the difference between squeeze and roon though.

My K30 is back in NZ as it went dark after the G4 upgrade was completed with the missing components.

It is because I did find sonic differences between older SSDs, such as Intel S3500 is better sounding, so I wonder if my older Samsung SSD will sound better than the new one.

That they create a single volume from multiple drives is a really cool feature. To compare the drives you will have to swap them in and out after making each one a single volume.

My friend passed away and we are selling off his gear so I have his EX server/player in my system now. Replaces a Melco N1a and sounds much better from the USB output. ( Melco’s strength is Ethernet)
For some reason it’s not showing up as a Core in Roon. Software up to date. I went thru the tutorial but no luck.
Anyways does it sound better as a core than running the Roon core on a standard desk top pc?
If not much difference I won’t rack my brains out trying to make it work as a core.
Thanks

I have an EX and while it is a top line player it was underpowered to use as a roon core. It was meant to be the player in a CX/EX combo.

I used to have the Antipodes EX which I miss sometimes, it was a really good streamer. I heard that they made OLADRA upgrades on the EX, I wonder how how much of an improvement in sound quality resulted from the upgrade. I kind of want to buy a used K50 as their prices are coming down quite a bit lately.

my vote onwards and upwards, k50. upgrades are always worth it, but better model is also better

Not day and night for sure on just an upgraded EX alone ... EX and CX stack is of course different as their previous TOTL total solution and upgraded EX and CX stack for me is worthwhile on sound quality improvement albeit the not an inexpensive venture that I took and with extended 3 yr warranty as well as option of more modern blue leds to boot 🥳🥳🍻🍻
