haowai, what about a general take on the market as a whole, even from just reading the forums, any clear leaders?

edit:

more chinese earphone porn, specifically the insides of the dynamic hybrid. scroll down a bit, and on the next page you can see the drivers the guy uses. opinions?

To us, yes it is more affordable. But Chinese citizens don't get a chance to make a conversion and when you factor in how much everyone except the most exiguous elite make, you can easily tell that a year of saving up would probably not allow most people to afford one of these. Last time I was in China (less than half a decade ago), my relatives used incandescent lightbulbs with wattages normally seen on florescents. It is obviously atrocious for their eyes, but they didn't even have a better option!

Five years is a lot of change in a place as crazy as China, remember, the mainland has 8% growth. Over 5 years, that's almost 50% more wealth, and it gets around, not in the most equal way but not too bad.

Furthermore, what does the social inequity in China have to do with custom IEMs? Yes, I've heard the sob stories about people saving up for a year to buy ES7's, that's unfortunately, but a reality. There are probably other reasons why buying from within China is more convenient, the foreign currency controls, importing and language issues would make life easier. For myself, I would certainly have no more problems buying from one of them than from Fang, though I've actually met Jerry Harvey and I know he's a good guy (as far as anyone can know), so I might pay the premium and do business with him instead.

I am very interested in the 1000 sounds.  ER4 armature for highs, and dynamic driver for mids and lows !
just I what I hope for a year back.

I just hope its a similar IE8 dynamic driver.

anamolouscode - According to Haowai, the original engineer of the LS8 (Rooth company) left and formed his own company and has produced the CX8. From what I can tell it is not much different than the Rooth LS8 8 driver. That is based upon what I have read via a translation. Haowai might be able to offer a better answer. But it really does not seem all that different.

almost forgot there is another famous brand

BK  http://bbs.erji.com/read.php?tid=623407

to anamolouscode

LS8 and CX8 have a different layout of drivers

LS8: 2 low 2 mid 2 high 2 ultra high

CX8: 2 ultra low 2 low 2 mid 2 high

there is no review available that directly compare the 2 products, but i am guessing they should sound really different, the official version of CX8 is released 1 month after JH16pro is shipped, i won't be surprised if they sounds similar. Anyway ,after i receive my jh16 pro i can try compare it with a CX8 demo.

and here is another LS8 review in chinese

cheers for the info guys.

wasnt the hybrid thread on erji started 2 years ago?

but yeah seems like these guys have been going strong for ages now, we just havent heard of them yet. Master X seems to have quite a reputation.

haowai can you get your hands on a cx8 demo?

i'm sure many of us would be happy with a cx8 only impression/review.

or

write to them and say "some dude in japan wants to write a review" and get them to send em to me :D haha!

@Sonic748i

No, the JH16 pro does not provide what I was describing.  The JH16 is an excellent Balanced Armature custom IMHO. However be that as it may, a Balanced Armature driver is different to a Dynamic driver in respect to sound signature and presentation IMHO.
What I was describing is a far more "fun" custom iem with a big bass emphasis. I believe this 5eb tripler driver hybrid custom will be anything but neutral, very warm and colored to the hilt, but it is my little experiment as to achieving a high quality - not high end - bass monster custom for street listening etc. My balanced TWag JH16 will be for more critical listening at home.

Have you heard the JH16 yet??

I think hybrid customs is a really interesting concept and I hope and believe that there will be far better examples than my 5eb triple comming out that maybe will compete with the best like the jh16/13pro etc. Looks like there probably is already - fingers crossed.
