Having had univerals with and without custom sleeves, I can tell you that nothing compares to custom fit. Not even close, in comfort or performance. Lets price out an example. Shure SE425's - $280, custom sleeves from Sensaphonics - $150, audiologist fees for impressions - $70. Total - $500. Now lets price customs. JH Audio JH 5 Pros - $400, impression fees - $70, total - $470. Another thing to consider is warranty period. JH Audio is 2 years, most other customs are 1 year. Most universals are 2 years.

It's time for a new set, and my money is going toward the JH5 Pro's. My use is primarily stage monitoring with some ipod use.

Having not really followed customs to any great extent take my comment with a massive grain of salt.

Wouldn't it be a better price to performance ratio getting a top tier universal rather than lower end customs?
My reasoning behind this is you are paying for the molding process as well as impressions as well as the drivers with customs.
With universals you don't pay so much for the process of making them, and more money can go into better drivers, etc.

That aside I'd go with the JH5. Jerry Harvey has a great reputation here, great customer service as well as he knows custom IEMs inside out. Not only that, he also makes some of the best top tier customs on the market to date.

I too would go with the JH Audio JH5.
