Thanks for the info.  Your`s look amazing in the photos, one of the nicest in this thread.  I agree on the matte; did you choose `solid` colors, or the `metallics` ?

Colorware warranties their work for 1 year and the 2 year Sennheiser warranty is still valid.

Noticed recently this is now $1600 instead of $1500. Still worth it if HD800s are your go-to can, IMO! Also, it seems repainting is back, so you can send your current ones in to get painted. I didn't look at the price for that though.

So my hd800 came in today...the paint job that colorware does is excellent! I was looking at it with the lights reflected on to see if there were imperfections or runs...non that I could see. I also couldn't see any scratches or damages from the rebuild after paint. I think the pic doesn't look as good as in person...

I'm getting ready to send mine in--I've had some paint chipping troubles.  You can see my color choices below; I'm going with all black, except for the sand/khaki color on the rings.

I'm planning on choosing matte/metallic.  I wonder what the difference would be with matte/solid.

If you are going for a color highlight like you seem to be doing, I would go metallic/gloss for the ring and matte on the black parts. I went all matte black on mine.

So there are actually 4 combinations for the finish, right?  matte/metallic, gloss/metallic, matte/solid, and gloss/solid.

I guess I would want gloss/metallic for the sand/khaki rings, but would I choose matte/metallic or matte/solid for the black parts?

Whatever helps the color stand out. Definitely go matte on the black if highlighting a color ring.

But is your matte black matte/solid or matte/metallic?  I notice that the metallic black is called carbon black and is not as dark as the solid jet black.
