Crowd Design for iFi App!
Aug 17, 2023 at 9:47 AM Post #91 of 120
I don't own the iFi streamer yet, but plan to purchase. My wife constantly shouts out to Alexa to play something over its crappy speaker, even though my nice stereo is in the next room. I really can't get her to use my computer that feds my stereo with Tidal, Spotify, Jriver etc. I haven't seen this requested in this thread, but as there is a competitive product that offers Alexa control, it would be a welcome addition to this new all-incompassing software suite to include this capability. I echo a previous posters request to be able to implement a wider search engine spanning whatever subscriptions , attached players (Jriver etc), and USB connnected devices that are available.
Hope to see some progress as to planned features here soon?

Do and say as you wish because you are frustrated. It might or might not actually move the needle.

Suggestion. Read what you wrote to friends and family and ask them for feedback. They probably will be inclined to be sympathetic to you. Then ask them how they would feel if you said that to them with others around.

@Mr BubbaHyde is neither scheduling the iFi work, nor is he responsible for it. He is a human being on the other end of your comments.
(well, I think… there is alway Chat-GPT…).

I am not Ms. Manners and I am not your parent, so feel free to ignore what I have written. It is nothing to me other than feeling empathy when someone is attacked, even mildly. I also recognize the same trait in me, and maybe this is just a reminder to myself. Either way it is completely your call. Just advice from one human to another… unless one or the other of us are actually a generative AI model…

This is overly dramatic and overly serious. Nobody is attacking the person behind the moniker, who is merely acting as a representative of his employer. Nothing's personal talking about the frustration about a product when you're talking to their social media rep. I mean, seriously?

Unless I miss something and he said something personally attacking that guy. I haven't read every post but what I've seen it's been criticism on iFi and the product not on the person.

Correct - none of it is of the person. It's of the brand and the product.

All I am saying is that after 119 days we should have a clue, a hint, to where this project is heading. We should have an idea about which stage they are currently at. Instead, we know nothing. I am not really needing any fancy features from this App. I already have PEQ, ANC and other features in my Qudelix-5K and FiiO BTR7, features I never use. What interests me in this App is a way to be notified for new firmware updates and the ability to install them from inside the App. Right now, for my GO Pod, I need to visit the iFi Download Hub, enter my details together with the Serial Number, download the firmware on my smartphone and install it via the GAIA App...

@jsmiller58 , it's sad that you are ready to judge (attack?) and talk about my manners when you do not know me at all but when it comes to the device, itself, the GO Pod in this case, you have very few things to say, almost zero suggestions to make, you are not supportive in resolving the bugs etc. You sound like you work for iFi, you do not sound like a normal owner/customer... I am sorry if you are "In over your head", sorry if you are too deeply involved in or with a difficult situation, beyond the point of being able to control or cope with things any longer. Your mental health issues are not my problem though and you should control your manners before addressing other people for theirs.
Seems ifi is in the customer desired feature gathering stage. I imagine the feasibility stage of the process is also happening so at this time I doubt a realistic timeline can be given.

Well, Christmas is coming and hope springs eternal!!
Indeed it is! Please remember this was a starting point in this venture, posted for customer feedback and ideas no time frame was stated nor promised.

That being said, work continues! :xf_wink:

Cheers!!

1) An EQ area. Maybe something like an area that looks like this:
ex1-1.png

And either have 5-6 bands that can be selected and adjusted for its settings, or just have a "+" icon where you can add as many bands as you want of EQ adjustment (up to some arbitrary maximum just for UI considerations). Preferably implementing a raised cosine filter algorithm for the EQ adjustments to the audio waveform.
And a spot to save and load EQ profiles to file. Useful in saving and loading a profile for each specific IEM.
Perhaps tie this save/load EQ profile in to the Go Pod's impedance auto measurement and adjustment ability with a setting you can enable that auto loads a specific profile when a certain impedance measurement is detected. Since most people dont have a dozen+ IEMs, this would let users have an EQ profile auto loaded when they switched what IEM they are using automatically (assuming they turn off and on the Go Pod after switching)

2) A digital filters selection

3) Ambient mode switch and adjustment for level of volume of the sound around you being let in/played through the device.
Also a low pass filter adjustment for the ambient mode sound. This way you can roll off the high frequencies if needed.

4) Crossfeed switch and adjustment for separation.

4) Connection area. Select what device to pair and device auto pair priority for what to check first.

5) Codec selection

Thanks for this! and we continue to look at all these suggestions!

I've just got some Eversolo DMP-A6 Master and the bundled app is really the best I've seen for a streamer of course requiring prerequisites on the streamer too
- all music services supported including even Apple Music locally as well as according connect services like Tidal or Spotify Connect
- Roon Support
- Parametric Equalizer for all sources
Etc.
That is my new reference and should be studied for this Ifi App but as mentioned requires according feature on the streamer side too

Nevertheless I will keep good old Zen Stream at my bedside for night listening 👍

Good to know, in fact along with the Wiim app the Eversolo app was personally reported by me to the Group as examples of where we should be looking at going for this.

Cheers!!

It's been a long time now, is the app finished or are you still gathering opinions on how it should look?
We are always gathering ideas! That never stops :xf_wink:

I am not involved directly in the app development, and at this moment don't have anything to share in terms of where it's at. I like you would like to see it sooner than later, but I also want them to take their time and do it right!

Of course, if I have any information to pass along, I will do so!

Cheers!!
