Topic created for the player Cowon Plenue D users to report any problems they are having with the device.

Problems solved:

1 - Noise During the exchange of track

I'm having a problem with Plenue D. The songs of the internal memory of the player during the exchange of track to another track are showing noise (very low), but this only happens when the screen is off. The noise is much weaker in the SD card , however it is still . It has a solution for this problem?

Firmware V. 1.14 fixed the problem

Problems to be solved:

1 - More skins options

Add more skins options for Plenue D. I would be very happy if I had more options. And I wish you had (if possible) any skin that owned a VU Meter (I attached a picture illustrating).

2 - Maximum number of files it's too small

After I bought a 128GB micro SD card for my Plenue D I noticed that the file limit is too small. Increase this limit in the next firmware

3 -Limit for reading micro SD cards up to 128GB

Many users are having trouble using micro SD card with 200GB capacity. People can copy the files to the card, they appear on the PC, but do not play when the Plenue D is being used.

This only occurs with the screen turned off. If I set to the screen is always on, the noise does not occur.

It seems that the problem is firmware: http://bbs.kakaku.com/bbs/J0000017959/SortID=19459284/

If you do not know Japanese, use google translator.

Confirmed, is firmware problem. I did downgrade to firmware 1.10 and the noise stopped happening. When I returned to firmware 1.13, the noise returned.

I wrote in the global Cowon site this message reporting the confirmation of the problem (firmware) as I wrote here and finally Cowon gave me an answer!

"Dear Vitor Valeri,

I am sorry to reply you late. Thank you for your kindness.

I delivered your Q&A to the related team to check out the latest firmware.

It is under testing to find out the problem.

It might be inconvenient for you to use the downgrade firmware, but before the problem is solved, please use the other firmware version.

Thank you for using Plenue D.

I hope you enjoy listening music with Plenue D.

Have a good day."

I posted my issue in the Plenue D thread.  http://www.head-fi.org/t/789488/cowon-plenue-d/3000#post_12704373  Very audible clicks and pops when playing mp3.

A helpful poster suggested that I reformat the internal memory and that's I did.

I used guiformat - FAT32 allocation size 16384 to wipe everything out in the internal memory. I then scan the drive for any errors (didn't find any). Next, I copied the 1.13 firmware onto the internal memory. It booted up...no issues with reformatting

Still assessing the situation but there were still pops and clicks yesterday but today it's gone !! Keeping fingers crossed..

Hope this helps

Very good to know! Thanks for reporting!

I will wait a little longer to see if really solved the problem. Post here again to give feedback. I'm afraid to format my Plenue D...

One doubt: When you formatted and gave reboot with firmware 1.13 reappeared every folder that was before the Plenue D?

Formatting will erase everything on the drive. You are basically starting from scratch. That is why I moved my music folders to the sd card prior to reformatting the internal memory

But my concern is not the music but the other folders (manual, system, etc)!

I formatted the internal memory of the player. He returned everything as it was before. successfully procedure done! I formatted and then copied the firmware to the internal memory of the player and then disconnected the Plenue D.

At first the noise persists, but as you said, the next day gone the noise. I will wait to see what happens.

The noise continues even after formatting the internal memory of Plenue D. I believe that the problem will only be solved when there is a firmware upgrade.

I believe we are having different problems with our player. You are hearing noises only when exchanging tracks when the display is off. My player is producing noises when playing mp3 with the display off.

AFAIK, no one else is having the problems I am facing and I had run out of ideas on how to fix the issue. So I decided to return my player back for repairs. I dont know if it is a software or hardware issue but I hope they would sort it our soon.

If no one else is having the same problem as you are having, then I suggest you send it back for repairs / exchange because this is not normal. Good luck

Hi,

Same problem here, I posted my questions several weeks ago, but did not get much feedback, so here we go once more, please:

After owning the Plenue D for a while now and reading all the related posts in this thread, I have to kindly ask for a potential NEW problem, which may not have been discussed here so far, I guess. The problem exists to my best knowlegde as follows:

While listening to gentle piano music with a lot of quiet passages between the notes, I noticed a strange artificial noise for the first time last night. Within irregular intervals of about 10 seconds there is a regular (reoccurring) high frequency distortion (twitter) of about half a second. This is of very low level, but still clearly audible. This only happens, when the display is in OFF mode! While the display is active, this never happened, I double-checked this of course! Also, on this occasion I noticed, that there is only true gapless playing when the display is on - you can hear clearly artifacts between the tracks when the display is in OFF mode - so there is probably some relation. This happened with .wav format music files saved on internal memory only so far! I did not recognize any problems with music saved on SD storage, as far as I can tell at the moment.

So this is very strange. It may be related to a software problem, but as well to some hardware problems due to circuit design, as it only seems to happen when using the internal memory and display off.

This is annoying, as there is much more energy withdrawn from the battery when the display is in ON Mode. Also, when falling asleep, I would definitely prefer to put the display in off mode.

Best regards
