I have been wondering for some time. What are the differences between Closed design headphones and noise-cancelling headphones?

I keep seeing them in different categories. Aren't they the same? Both of them block noise from the outside and don't let music leak out?

Thank you !

noise canceling headphones have special technology that blocks out ambient noise. closed headphones just isolate well, they block out sound just by the material theyre made of. i think

Yes, noise canceling headphones typically have a AA battery to power the brains of the NC technology.  It's an active technology where this little mic detects incoming noise and then generates an inverse wave form to effectively cancel out the noise.

Closed headphones just cover the ear.
