I've had my Edifier E25HD speakers for 5 years but unfortunately the left speaker has started to distort so I guess it's time to look for a replacement. I am space starved so I can't go much bigger (which rules out bookshelf speakers) and while I could import the often recommend Klipsch Promedia 2.1 from Amazon US I'm not entirely sure it wouldn't blow up when I plugged it into an Irish power socket (same as UK).

So basically any suggestions for a good sounding compact system for music and gaming? Thanks.

I too am space starved. However, I don't know your budget.

Was looking at Harman Kardon Soundsticks 4 and other 2.1 systems. But ended up with a mini soundbar below my speaker. Particularly at Polk Audio MagniFi Mini AX. Price might be high but there are many equivalents. See it on my system (below the monitor, sub at the right on the floor).

Will not win awards, but am satisfied with the sound and like very much the form factor. Lots of reviews on the net.
