Well, the Compass was designed after someone had a good go at me about the Zero (I wrote up a huge FAQ about it in my Head-fi blog, which is still there) after people were getting them with wrongly inserted opamps (which killed them) and someone had their headphones fried by one.

Looking forward to the review!

I'm looking at one of these too, did you get the MK2 SE version?

Could you post an impression of the lineout to speaker SQ compared to the headphones if possible?

Cheers.

Yes it seems very sturdy and well built. Nice DAC (PCM1793)
Headphone part ist heavyly inspired by the Graham Slee Solo. And swappable OPAMPs give the opportunity to replace the stock ones. I already made up my favourite ones and just have to test how they sound in my new baby
And I am really looking forward to find out the sonic difference between the S/PDIF output of my onboard soundcard compared to the USB, with the Aune.

Bye

you know what the nasty part is w/ external gear?

that little whiney upgraditis voice in your head...soon or later, it'll tell you that you'd get a much higher SQ w/ a uber-low jitter S/PDIF interface such as this one: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f46/us...hiface-446375/

especially going from the ST and its uber-low jitter clock....be strong

PS: in the last pages, there's been some jitter measurements...it's almost as good as the top-end Lynx soundcards, it's high on my list tbh to send stereo LPCM...just need to find a worthy external amp.

Yes, that is a nice DAC. I am interested to hear your impressions. I tihink S/Pdif would be the way to go but I guess your ears have to decide that.
